Lovely little pub that seems like a step back in time(in a good way) amazing value freshly cut sandwiches and its own beers brewed locally.A great little spot for lunch after walking the lovely nearby countryside. You can see into the kitchen where the owner cooks the food herself.

I have been a customer of the Dipton Mill for over 20 years. It is in a beautiful location in Hexhamshire - to the south of Hexham. It takes a little finding. It is quite small;charming and compact. It is fitted out with traditional pub ornaments, and countless personal items belonging to the owners. The seating is finished in red velvet, and there is a new(ish) stone floor. Its a quiet personal place, for sharing a story around the fire, and getting away from mobile phones, gadgets, and the gold-fish brained nintendo generation.
You need to appreciate its charm, and blend in when you go.

The food is great, freshly made to order, a wide range of traditional British dishes. Vegetables are pressure cooked, and full of flavour and vitamins. Tough luck - if you want chips - the facilities are not there for it. My favourite is the bacon chop with cider sauce, and the sandwiches are great too.

The pub underwent a change of management in early 2015, so please show some respect if things aren't exactly what you expect, some things take time.

We were doing a walk from Corbridge to Hexham which in itself was glorious , but the icing on the cake on a scorching July afternoon was to walk down the valley to the Dipton Mill Inn. The location is a real delight. A gorgeous, quiet, peaceful location at the bottom of a thickly wooded valley on a river. The garden was lovely and we enjoyed some of their own beers , which were excellent. The walk back down to Hexham is wonderful, through field after field of Savin grasses and the reward of excellent views at the top.

We have visited the Dipton Mill Inn on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Not it certainly isn't glamorous or polished, no interior designers has swept through recently with the farrow & ball touch but it's what an old fashioned country pub should be like. Yes perhaps it could be updated here and there but it's nice to find a pub that isn't a chain or hasn't been over designed. The staff are welcoming and the real log fire is a draw in the winter months.

We have eaten a variety of meals, ploughman's, mince and dumplings, sandwiches etc and all have been of a consistently high quality, with hot dishes being very like something your grandmother might have made for you. Real comfort food. My husband also visited on a Saturday night with some pals for the curry night and everyone agreed the food and atmosphere were great. They obviously have some very regular, local drinkers as you'd expect with a nice amount of banter and local chat but as people who pop in infrequently we have never been made to feel less important.

Overall it's un showy, quietly charming. Another point worth noting is that their beers are their own from their brewery and these are very good indeed and worth the trip out for if you like your real ale.

Had a great meal tonight - proper home cooked food, in an authentic rural pub topped off with good company!
