We enjoyed 3 nights here. We stayed in the self catering accommodation and it was perfect with everything we need.

Thr location is great, lovely views and in nice countryside. It is also close to lots of places.

The owner always looks busy and leaves you to it but will give you advice and help when needed.

Thank you for your review. I was so glad to be able to accommodate all of you with some of your party being in the B&B and others on the campsite, a lovely family gathering.

This was a single night stop on a 'tour' of north England and the Scottish Borders. It was a delight to sleep in a building with character oozing out of the stone walls. Rooms were well appointed and comfortable. Unfortunately I missed on the cooked breakfast as I had to leave early to arrange for our car to be repaired, but the others enjoyed it. Our host, Elizabeth, helped with information and further accommodation offers when our car clutch failed, and also called when my parents left coats in the wardrobe.

The highlight was peace and quiet, along with the character of the place. My father particularly enjoyed it and I could imagine returning for a short break. Just guarantee the sunny weather and we'll be back!

We stayed at the Rye Hill Farm and thought it was great. The building and grounds are very historic , but the rooms have been modernized so you get the feeling of staying in a very old place, but enjoying modern conveniences. The hostess is very knowledgeable and helpful if you want some suggestions about what to do such as touring the Durham Cathedral, walking Hadrian's Wall Path or driving some back roads. She even told us to turn off one block going through Alston to be sure to see the cobbled streets. If you are anywhere in this area, stay here and you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: An end room gives you windows on two sides.

What a lovely review, thank you. The buildings here date back some 300 years or so and built in the local stone from Ladycross Quarry, just up the road, that is still in production today!

We recently stayed in the self catering cottage where we hosted a family birthday party. The cottage was easily large enough to host us all ... 7 people with everything we could possibly have needed.
Rye hill Farm is a working farm, it's not the place for you if you want boutique style luxury. There's no worries about muddy boots or making a mess. The bedroom was lovely and comfortable with great views.
The whole family raved about the cottage and we are taking the caravan up there soon.
Thanks to Elizabeth for the home made bread.

Stayed here with family for the weekend so that we could meet up with more family who live nearby to celebrate my son's 18th birthday. Elizabeth was extremely helpful in sorting out our three rooms and was the perfect host throughout. She has an abundance of energy, skills (pulling a campervan off the field with the tractor was a sight to behold!) and a good sense of humour. The rooms are spotless, extremely comfortable and the food excellent. We especially liked the homemade banana bread. We didn't spend too much time here which was a shame because it was so homely and nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: An evening meal at the Travellers Rest is highly recommended

It was fun having you all to stay in the B&B for your sons birthday. Dragging camper vans off the wet camp site is not my favorite job, some say that the more I do it the better I will get at it! Fortunately the weather has been wonderful recently so no opportunity to better my vans pulling skills.

Sadly, we only stayed here for one night, but were made to feel very welcome by Elizabeth, who is a lovely lady with a good sense of humour and who tells a good tale ! The rooms were very comfortable, quiet at night so we both had a good nights sleep in cozy beds. The surrounding area is beautiful but sadly we had little time to explore, but did manage to walk to the Travellers Rest for our evening meal which we can highly recommend. Next morning we had a great breakfast to set us up for our journey ahead.
