Had been told not to expect too much here but was really pleasantly surprised. Took 3 children and they loved it. Firstly they did their own printing with potatoes, sponges and paint while chickens roamed under the tables. Then we went to see the animals. There was donkeys, alpacas, rheas and a big turkey. The children were delighted with the donkeys especially as they were very friendly. The small house where Thomas Bewick was born was set up as it would have looked and the little museum about his life and work was very interesting for me although the children just wanted to go back to see the animals. The gardens are lovely for a picnic on a sunny day too. Only went today and the children have asked to go back already!

Set on the south banks of the Tyne Valley a beautiful gem of a place. A little museum in the birthplace of Thomas Bewick, wood engraver. Good examples of his work to be seen, and the story of his life. Peaceful and quiet.

This was our third visit and we found it just as enjoyable as our previous visits. My children enjoyed the free-roaming chickens in the farmyard, and there are rheas, a turkey, alpacas and a friendly donkey. Museum, although not changed much, was still very interesting.

This is a small site but gives a good insight into the work of Thomas Bewick, when we were there the added bonus of a printing demo was being done to explain the different types of printing. Excellent property in the National trust, very interesting.

Not a place to spend a lot of time but a very interesting and pretty place to visit and pass 2 or 3 hours. Fine for a snack and a Coffee but don't expect anything more, the place is best visited when it's a dry sunny day to.
