Stayed only 1 night in our Campervan, but nice site with friendly welcome and good facilities. Plenty of hard standings with electric hook up.
We'll certainly be back for a longer visit as the area has a lot to offer with some nice walking routes, and the observatory yet to visit.
The village shop and Anglers Arms look good too.

We stayed here with our caravan for five nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite initial misgivings. The manager, Steve, was soooo helpful and knowledgeable and helped us park. This is a village initiative and deserves our support. Lovely walks around, relaxed atmosphere, excellent beer at the Anglers Arms - a short walk away. Food at Kielder Castle or the pub. A village shop (run by Steve and his wife) facilities were adequate but no phone or TV reception - bliss. If you need the reception climb up the Deadwater Trail for reception. Don't forget much or be prepared to make-do. Steve advised us about walking and trails that people don't usually use and then when we had a flat car battery rallied with jump leads too. Thank you Steve. The site looked suitable for couples, friends and families, tents, camper vans and caravans. Relaxed atmosphere.

Friendly Staff (Steve the Warden really helpful and friendly), Amazing Location for Kielder Castle Walks and Maze and for the Observatory. Great for familes and really picturesque. Can hardly complain about the price though because no added extras. (What you see is what you get and one price for all). Only downside. Facilities are not the best..... They look a little shabby, tiered and run down. Water either runs out completely or is cold... Not what you want when the nights and early morning are cool (Apparently this is because guests leave the showers running).

Recommendations for Kielder Foresty Commision would be to issue all guests a key to shower hut (payable by deposit) and more regular inspections of the showers. Also, install a system where by the showers cannot run dry or run out of hot water and lastly, issue all guests with a sheet of paper upon check in.... or have them read a notice before handing them their shower hut key... stating polite notices such as 'please ensure showers are turned off after use'.... I know this is on the doors of the showers, however some guests need asking twice (after having been in the trade overseas for 7 years previous) I am speaking from experience.
This was the only dampener, however for some guests... it means a lot.

Lastly, the shop could make a fortune if they held more stock items and were licensed to sell Alcohol and maybe add in the sale of BBQ's and Stoves (basic camp eqpt etc.) You could even do a deal with the Bike place and add in the rental, basic maintenance of Cycles etc. The location and capture market you have is phenomenal.

If you don't have the staff, I am sure the Sale of more stock items and the shop being open at key times will enable the introduction of another couple of part time or a full time member of staff (maybe 9 till 12 and 17:00 to 20:00)

Overall, I Would still recommend though for a break 40 mins from Hexham.

Stayed here for two nights over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Arrived mid-afternoon and got a pitch down the far end of the site.

The place is very quiet and clean, and the ranger who greeted us was very friendly and informative.

The facilities were ok - large enough to cope with everyone and reasonably clean however I failed to get any water out of the shower, warm or cold, I may have gone at the wrong time?

There was plenty of space even though the site stated it was fully booked for the weekend there certainly didn't seem to be that many people there - a nice touch in terms of peace and tranquility!

The view of the stars on a clear night is like nothing I've ever see anywhere in the world - incredible!

We took our camper van here for 3 nights and were treated to the most beautiful surroundings imaginable. This campsite is situated in the heart of the Kielder forest and is a short walk/cycle to Kielder castle and only a little further gets you to Kielder water.

The campsite is clean, well-kept and run by the most friendly staff you could come across. The showers were hot the toilets clean and never busy.

All in all the facilities cater every type of camper (tent, caravan, camper, chalet) and are clean, the campsite is quiet and welcoming.

We stayed here on a Friday - Sunday in September. The stream nearby was very picturesque and the young warden was very friendly although I didn't quite catch his name I think he was called Carl and he had a dog named Dylan. The toilet attendant was very friendly and he always ensured that the toilets/ showers and campsite was clean and it is much cheaper than the one up the road. We will definitely return again on our next stay at Kielder.

Stayed one night in our camper van on way back to Scotland from Northumberland coast. Only one other van there and one camper- so so quiet. Young ranger very friendly and helpful. Facilities clean-ish. Great for dogs as walks on the doorstep. Road back to Hawick a truly great drive.
