Owner description: Looked after by the National Trust, Longshaw is a wonderful place to discover spectacular views of the Peak District, ancient woods, parkland and heather moorland. Visit the tea room and shop for a cream tea or hearty meal (open 363 days/year), explore the estate's waymarked trails and natural play places, or join in a free guided walk or a National Trust event. The spectacular White Edge Moor overlooks the Derwent Valley and forms part of the long gritstone edge stretching from Stanage towards Birchens Edge south of Chatsworth House. If you have time, discover the old quarry workings at Bole Hill.

Had a lovely day out in the sunshine. Different routes to take depending on level of difficulty and duration required. Magnificent views of the peak district and lots of places to stop for a picnic. There is a lovely cafe with both indoor and outdoor seats - great if you have a dog! Area?my enjoyable day, will be visiting again!

what better place to visit, even on a dull day the views are still amazing. Other than the Yorkshire Dales this is a most spectacular area of the country. Visited the National Trust Shop / café, can not say I was impressed. I think that the shop area took up more valuable space that would be better used by the café as the queue 8 people long took 20 minutes to be served, the cakes & drinks were OK. it was very hectic in there, I did feel for the staff, particularly the young man covering both the shop till & café.

Visited today for the first time. We came for the half term tracker trail which was pretty disappointing. You had to pay £1 for a map which was difficult to read and the trail wasn't really long enough. There is, however, some better colour coded trails to follow. There are also plenty of geocaches to find. There is a very nice tea shop that we ate in. Dogs aren't aloud inside but there are picnic benches outside. I would definitely visit again.

We have no idea what the hills and valleys of this walk are called as we didn't have a guide book, but let the scenery guide you and you will not be disappointed.
We took our two dogs and 8 year old son and had the best 2 hours of strenuous exercise I can remember.
The backdrop was spectacular, with craggy hills, monolithic boulders, old billy goat gruff style bridges, pine forests and a whole lot more.
We totally loved our walk around the Longshaw Estate.

Park in the shade under trees and then enjoy a lovely, long walk to the café. Dogs must be kept on leash as calves wander free (at least when we were there). Even though the car park was packed, we still felt like hardly anyone was there. Free parking for National Trust members.
