Visited in June 2013. Must visit! How can you be anywhere around and not visit the place where Robin Hood's Forest and especially the Major Oak!!? If you don't you should be ashamed of yourself! :-) Its great especially for kids, they will love the talking characters in the visitors center.

“Great history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 December 2013

Considering that this is a free area, free information, museum and lovely walkways dotted with information points full of history - pretty great! We had shocking weather, cold and wet (typical England), but the Old Oak Tree and the Robin Hood memorabilia made it worthwhile. There was a school group on excursion but we went another way and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Lots of walking tracks to choose from and if the weather was nice we would have stayed for a picnic.

“Great for any day of the year”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 December 2013

Excellent for walkers there are three main routes and free maps at the visitors centre, walks range from about 30 minutes to about 2 hours. The forest is beautiful and of course you can learn all about Robin Hood along the way. There is also lots of information about the forest and conservation and its wildlife. The great oak is a nice attraction. The visitors centre is very helpful and the lady on the till was so lovely and pleasant and was chatting to us about our holiday. There is a room where you can watch a film about the forest and its very good. Nice gift shops and a restaurant on site. Really enjoyed it here will be returning.
