“Ok for a short stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 December 2013

My husband and I stayed here at the beginning of December for one night.

The central location is good and a car park nearby.

We thought we'd treat ourselves to the Privilege room; the room was spacious enough and clean however it really wasn't that special. The complimentary bath robes had seen better days (I've never stayed in a hotel before where robes look like they have been pre-worn - perhaps I've just been lucky!) and other than a slightly bigger room, I'm not sure was the extra room tariff (over and above a standard double) would have been for.

When I booked I thought breakfast was included but it wasn't - this may have been my mistake however if so, I have stayed in London hotels with beautiful rooms for the same amount money. On this basis, I don't really think it's good value for money.

If visiting Nottingham again, I would probably consider it again if I managed to a get a very good deal. Wouldn't be prepared to pay the same as my last trip.

Service was poor, rooms were tiny, lights broken, wifi kept dropping out, no free breakfast, expensive meals of poor quality, no on site parking… Need I say more? I did try and get assistance from reception but they were not interested. Basically had to beg for help. Would rather stay on outskirts of city next time.

Stayed for one night which is the perfect location for a night out in Nottingham. However we had a very small room and when we looked outside our window we could just see pipes as we were right at the back or the corner of the hotel. The dinner in the hotel restaurant however was very nice.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for finding the time to write your review. I was glad to read that overall you had a pleasant experience here with us at Mercure Nottingham City Centre.

As the hotel was constructed within 1822, during refurbishment in 2011 the original structure was retained as this gave the hotel a wonderful unique personality. This also meant that the hotel had a variety of different room sizes, resulting in our room categories: City Pads (our smallest room types), Classic Double Rooms, Privilege King Rooms and Suites. Each of these room categories is reflected by a pricing strategy, the basis which all hotels function on.
We hope to accommodate your future visits to Nottingham.

Kind Regards

Stuart Pringle

Hotel is pleasant, welcoming, calm, and clean. An excellent location in city centre, walkable from station and all main attrations but surprisingly quiet inside. Would stay here again.
Thailand no. 1 restaurant across the road worth a visit too

Well located in the centre so easy to get to - but peaceful. worth paying for a better room - the one we had was large, very well done out and very comfortable - massive bath room - friendly staff and a real pleasure to stay in
