Great hotel located right in the city centre. The arena is 5 mins walk away. Room, although on the small side was clean and comfortable. We were in room 317 which was at the back of the hotel so noise was minimal. Breakfast was delicious abd staff were polite and friendly. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is clean and bright with good facilities, recently refurbished.
Located in the city centre near, shops, pubs, bars and restaurants.
Many other reviews have mentioned the noise late at night, this is a real factor, but thankfully the hotel provide ear plugs in the room.
Initially we found this a funny addition, but as we returned from a night out in the city, the noise from the streets all around the hotel was very pronounced and we were very thankful for those ear plugs, which helped us get a reasonable nights sleep.
We did not use the restaurant or bar so cannot comment on what they have to offer.
Reception staff were friendly and very informative. Free WiFi worked well in the room.
You also get a discount car park rate for Fletchers Gate Car Park, the hotel will endorse the ticket before you leave.

I have stayed here 3 times and now stay in the crowne plaza. The small rooms are very small the gym is tiny and if staying on a Wednesday there is some noise at the rear of the hotel where there is a student nightclub close by. The breakfast is good though and staff are friendly.
It's central and the agreement with the car park 100m away costs only £6 overnight.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a larger room as the small room is a 3/4 double pushed in the corner.

Everything about my room and the decor of this hotel was 'fine'. Nothing special or exciting but simply OK.

The staff however were really impressive. Front of house were welcoming as were the bar staff and breakfast waiting staff.

A lovely buffet breakfast for £10 and a very reasonable room rate of £70. Great location.

Loan business traveler in single room. The building apparently dates from 1822 but has been modernized and is part of the Mercure chain. I cannot claim that this succeeded to add to its allure but it does mean that you have to walk up and down more stairs with your luggage, since the floors are not on one level. Located ideally in the city center, it is only a short walk from all the city facilities and a five pound taxi ride with heavy luggage from the main line station. My single room was small, cramped and "poky". The soft bed was not comfortable and the sheets made up too short for my tall frame. The bathroom is also small and although the shower sealed well, was rather claustrophobic. The restaurant serves breakfast and evening meals. Breakfast is Spartan but acceptable and the seating area is OK. The evening meal was uninterestingly prepared, served and consumed. Although the room rates are reasonable, you get just what you pay for! Note that late check-out after midday costs an unreasonable twenty pounds! In national and international comparison Nottingham does not have good hotels and this is neither the worse nor the best.

Room Tip: Avoid cramped single rooms

Dear Guest,

Thank you for spending the time writing your review.

I was disappointed to read that the hotel did not meet your requirements.

As the hotel was built in 1822, upon refurbishment, many of the unique and quirky features were retained so the hotel was not separated from its well remembered history. These features therefore detailed the hotel to have multiple room categories, ranging from our City Pads to our Suites, the latter of which are the more spacious of the categories.

I was equally disappointed to read that our beds were not to your liking. Our beds have received multiple comments, resulting in many of our guests wishing to purchase them from the brand directly. Equally we receive multiple comments with regards to our breakfast offering; however we have passed on your comments to our head chef.

Thank you once again for providing us with your valuable feedback.

Kind Regards

Stuart Pringle

I stayed at this hotel with my partner on a Saturday night (22nd feb). We decided to take the train which is only a 10 minute walk away.

The hotel is in a great location, right in the center of the city only a road away from the big square in nottingham (which we love) and close to many bars and restaurants.

Upon arrival we were greated by a man (around 3pm on sat) who was very helpful, friendly and informative. We got to our room and I wont lie it was slightly smaller then expected considering it was a superior room, mainly in the sense that we have stayed in much bigger for the same price, however please dont let it put you off as there is more than enough room to play with. The room was very modern, big flat screen tv, huge bed, coffee machine and complimentry cold drinks with the bathroom hidden away from the room (in a good way).

As I read many reviews before I booked the hotel I already knew that the hotel had issues with outside noise and earplugs are actually supplied for this purpose. At times the noise of girls screaming laughing and talking loudly in the streets did wake me up so if youre not used to city noise or are a light sleeper this is something you should be aware of, but it would not put me off coming back here.

All in all, the hotel is really smart, modern and in a great location and I would stay here again.

we booked a room for a 2 night weekend in nottingham .The hotel is approx 5-10 mins walk to the shops ,15 mins from tourist attractions .we arrived early and were able to leave our luggage until the book-in time of 3 pm. our room was small but very comfortable, shower but no bath. there was some street noise in the early hours of sun. morning, i did wonder why ear plugs were placed on the bedside table!!
breakfast on both mornings was freshly cooked and there was a very large selection.
my only complaint is that there was no local information available in the hotel- the receptionist offered to print me info from the internet but i had to know what attraction i wanted info about!!- so no use whatsoever .
we found nottingham itself to be a bit of a let down, we expected lots of historical museums etc, it would seem robin hood etc is a fallacy, so although we visited all the tourist attractions, found it all a bit disappointing.

Room Tip: room 417 small and up a few very steep stairs- no good for disabled travellers

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. I was glad to read that overall you had a pleasant stay at Mercure Nottingham.

The majority of the tourist attractions are on the outskirts of the City Centre. Robin Hood and the Great Oak Tree are based within Sherwood Forest which again is on the outskirts of the City, approximately 40 minutes driving distance.

Kind Regards
