“Great hotel - but don't eat here”
Reviewed 29 July 2011

Car park not signposted well (up side street) but everything smoothed out by great receptionist, Nicola. I was on crutches and she made sure I had a lovely room with easy access and personally helped me with luggage - could not have been more charming.
Room was excellent - liked free water and biscuits. Windows did not open but air con worked well.
I was speaking at a Rotary business network and dinner was served to 42 people. The vegetarian option of onion tart was DREADFUL. It had been cooked (form frozen?) in a microwave - a soggy mess that they should have been ashamed to serve. I didn't complain because I didn't want to embarrass hosts.
Had great sleep. They had aromatherapy sprays - lovely touch. They also brought me complimentery toothpaste as I'd forgotten mine.
Breakfast was not good. Lukewarm coffee, vacuum packed cheese and no smoked salmon as promised - only a couple of dried up pieces of salami.
Check out was efficient and bellman, Jim, was charming and helpful. Car park charge of £12.00 was excessive considering cost of room.
Would go back again but would NOT eat in hotel.

I guess when you have been in one Crowne Plaza; you've been in them all. The exception with this one is that all the staff I encountered were friendly, courteous, and helpful. I found the breakfast was a good quality. I would stay again.

Room Tip: My room looked over a music venue, earplugs were provided!

57 previous reviews, this must be the worst so far... and we were in a Club room on the top floor. Crowne Plaza if your brand means anything at all to you, do something about this place.

The location was great for Nottingham centre. Some of the staff were friendly.

Front desk don't care or more likely can't do anything about how bad this hotel is. Dirty and cramped Club room, small and uncomfortable bed, we couldn't sleep (they provide ear plugs in the room!) for the racket all around. Dirty curtains, dirty windows, collapsed armchair. Club lounge was not serviced from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., dirty things everywhere.

If you get offered Club Room 811, REFUSE! We specifically asked when we booked by phone for a quiet room; a swing door immediately outside our room squeaked and banged 'til 1 p.m. and again from 6 a.m. The phone rang at midnight. Just before 1 a.m. they decided to clear out the Club lounge dirties.

Prime requisite for a hotel room is that guests can sleep.

Breakfast ought to be easy didn't it? Or if not good, then at least hot please.

Thank goodness we were only away for one night.

Room Tip: Go to the Welbeck nearby.

My husband and I stayed here in July 2011 for the weekend. From the moment of our arrival we were impressed with the standard of service. A special mention must be made to Jim Cunningham. His time and willingness to help was most appreciated. As we were unsure of Nottingham city centre, he gave us a map and ringed areas of interest. We had already pre-booked a meal that evening elsewhere and Jim helped us with directions to the restaurant. Nothing was too much for him. Those little touches are priceless... We stayed in an Executive room which was a free upgrade! Complimentary soft drinks and snacks throughout the day can be accessed from the private Lounge on the 8th floor with wine and beer available free of charge between the hours 6pm until 10pm. We also made use of the gym/pool facilities which were of a good standard just seemed small in size for the hotel... Overall, would most definitely stay here again.

The hotel staff was very friendly, however on checking in they never mentioned that the air conditioning wasnt working properly. The hotel was like an oven and the rooms were even hotter. Couldnt even open a window to allow fresh air into the room. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off and there were black scratch marks down the wall. The room rate was £89.00 with an additional £27.00 for breakfast and carparking which totalled £116.00 for one nights stay. For this amount of money you would have expected a lot more. The rooms were extremely small, the shower had no power to it and overall we were extremely dissapointed.

After staying in different hotel in Nottingham i expected some level of standard. But unfortunatately it didnt come. Hotel is in fact avarage business hotel. My room was classic with view to inside block, that means some aircondition stuff etc. Internet you have to pay some crazy money (if i remember well), what is also little bit strange. Breakfast was ok, as usual mainly english one:-).
