“Good location, poor accommodation”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 March 2014 via mobile

We recently stayed here with 2 other couples for a weekend break in Nottingham. When we arrived we were told we had been given a free upgrade! I can't imagine what the original rooms must have been like. The 'upgrade' rooms were in an annexe next to the hotel. We first discovered that the bathroom light didn't work, neither did the light above the cracked basin. (we all had cracked basins!) It was repaired by the time we returned in the evening, but we were told to leave it on as it could fail again! The bedside lamp also didn't work, but was replaced the following day by a very cheerful and helpful young lady. In fact all the staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was mouldy in places, and there were no complimentary shower gels, etc - it is a long time since we have stayed anywhere where all you get is a bar of soap!
Breakfast was ok - a choice of continental or the 'full English' which was enjoyed by the menfolk, so no complaints there, and served by efficient friendly staff. But the tea tasted of chlorine!
The bed was 2 singles pushed together, but was reasonably comfy and clean.
The hotel's only redeeming factor was its location. An easy walk into the city, and opposite a lovely arboretum, which we strolled around on the Sunday.
This hotel is in desperate need of a facelift and attention to detail. Ok for a night's stay but I would prefer a Premier Inn!

This is very handy for the Theatre Royal and parking, especially after 5.00pm is very easy. However, the room I had was tiny and the shower room was cupboard-size. Also, a lot of staff noise from downstairs very early in the morning. Breakfast was OK though and the staff were friendly enough. At their quoted price of £85 this would have been a disgrace but at half that was acceptable.

We were visitors to Nottingham and had to turn to the general public as sat-nav did not pick post code of hotel and customer service for directions was non-existent! Double bed was two singles pushed together.
This hotel is crying out for a refurbishment and a lick of paint, If I paid any more than £39.00 I would have felt robbed!
Breakfast was price at an expensive £8.50. I would rate this hotel 5/10 and would not stay here again.

Room Tip: Not room 8 as this has trams go by at 6am

Firstly id like to say the staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.
The room i had was a disgusting, an embarrassment of a room. In a poor state of repair and dirty.
- Mould growing on the walls of the bathroom
- Badly fitted and dirty skirting in the bathroom
- The towel rail in the bathroom has been pulled off and the fixings left bare
- The extractor fan in the bathroom was covered in thick dust
- Mirror in bathroom is badly damaged
- Frame around the bottom of the tiny shower was very dirty
- Stains on the carpet in the bedroom
- Lots of chipped paint in the bedroom
- Dirty walls in the bathroom
- The bed runner had lots of very dubious stains on it (very very disgusting)
- Furniture in a bad state of repair
- One of the tea bag packets has been used for note paper and just put back
- Just outside my door was another door marked fire door keep closed, propped open by and old iron leading to a very steep stair case
- A loud noise from an extractor fan all night long

One of if not the most awful hotels I've ever stayed in. More attention needs to be paid to the cleanliness and maintenance of this place.

That said it is very close to the tram lines and fairly close to the town, about a 15-20 minute walk

This hotel advertises as having parking. It does not.

They have a couple of visitor's passes, good for 2 hours on the street outside. They don't have enough to cover all the guests car. There's nowhere else near to park, it's a bit out of the way and not in a great area - I'm not sure I'd want to leave my car there.

The receptionist wasn't very friendly or helpful and overall the place was below par - I wouldn't recommend staying here unless there's really nothing else available.

Room Tip: FInd a different hotel!

Rooms are shabby and tiny they just about fit the double beds in and they arent double beds more like singles with an extra bit added. The bathroom covered in mould and unless your a size 0 model not enough room in he shower cubicle to turn around top it off service is poor I was 1 minute late for breakfast and I was refused food even though id paid. Parking isnt free your directed to local residential parking areas where you can park for free. I would not recommend this so called hotel to anyone
