I have stayed at Lindum house several times over the past couple of years and have found my stay most enjoyable. The house is lovely with secure off road parking with an excellent location to the city centre and local amenities. The family who run the B&B are also very friendly and welcoming and both there German Shepherds very friendly.Looking forward to my next visit already.

Lindum house has a great atmosphere, the room was large and bright I particularly liked the high ceilings. Also enjoyed the gothic features of the building. It is very well placed to access the city as it is on the new tram system. The hosts were freindly and helpful and the room had a great view across the park. Very good value as the price included secure off road parking.

When I first saw a description of the Lindum House I thought it would be an interesting place to stay because of it's rich history. It's walking distance to the city center and there is a very pleasant arborteum located next to it. If the owner were charging 20 pounds a night, I would not expect much and I wouldn't be complaining. However, I found the accommodations to be less then adequate considering the price. Accommodations are expensive in Nottingham and 50 pounds may be considered cheap, but to me it is still 80 US dollars. For 80 US dollars I have some expectations. The check-in time was unacceptable; before 12 noon or after 5PM. Anyone coming from the USA via London can't make it before 12 noon, but is there much earlier then 5PM. So, I enjoyed sitting in the train station with my bags for several hours. After a long flight from the USA, it was a very unpleasant experience. I was visiting Nottingham with my girlfriend and I had asked for a room with a large bed. Well, I got a bed with split mattresses in a large frame. I hope you don't expect to cuddle with your loved one, because you will continue to fall in the crack formed when the two mattresses separate. Instead we crowded onto one side of the bed trying not to fall off, or fall into the "crack". Room service only comes around once. If you wake up late, don't expect to have your bed made or your breakfast items restocked. An inquiry got me a snippy remark from the maid. The continental breakfast offered is ok, but other comparibly priced B&B's in Nottingham offer a full english breakfast. The shower wasn't great either. After some experimentation, I was able to derive some hot water from this gismo fixed to the bathroom wall. It's rather awkward, because of the way it's positioned relative to the bathtub. I hope you don't want to moderate the temperature though. You have two choices: very hot or very cold. I'm a dog person, and I love german shepards. However, the owner has two german shepards andrden that's listed as an amenity is roamed by the german shepards and if that didn't deter you, there is no access to garden from the public part of the house anyway. The final straw, and the reason I'm writing this review took place near the end of my stay at the Lindum House. My girlfriend had been suffering from a severe cold since arrriving in Nottingham. I finally decided it would be better to leave early and let her convalesce at her brother's house in England. There is 48 hour notification policy to change reservations, so I spoke with the owner's wife the night before to find out if it would be a problem to check-out one day early. I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM. We packed our bags the next day and lugged them down the stairs to the lobby. I presented my key to the owner's wife and told her about my intentions as we had discussed the night before. She says I need to speak with my husband about this. He says we will have to charge you for the additional night because you didn't give us adequate notification and we can't let the room out anymore. That would be enraging enough, but the fact that they had several rooms and they were empty anyway enraged me more. It was a lame excuse by the owner to squeeze another 50 pounds out of me. Needless to say, I wasn't about to give this guy another 50 pounds for nothing. So, I hauled my bags up the stairs again and stayed another night. I've traveled the world, and I've stayed in low budget and high budget accommodations. I'm a reasonable guy. MY RECOMMENDATION: There is plenty of history in Nottingham. FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO STAY THAT RESPECTS AND APPRECIATES THEIR GUESTS.
