“Excellent in almost every way”
Reviewed 3 December 2013

This modestly priced Ramada is situated conveniently in the heart of the city, yet in a quiet side street - albeit one that is difficult to access through the maze of one way streets. The rooms are much larger than one would expect for the price, chiefly because the bathroom does not cut out one corner. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the staff were very helpful. The breakfast buffet provided ample fare. There is very limited on-site car parking at extra cost and by pre-booking, but there is also a discounted scheme for a nearby public car park. We had booked for dinner, bed & breakfast, but on arrival discovered that the restaurant was closed on Sunday evenings. However, we were given a voucher for a free meal at the excellent adjoining Chinese restaurant. This would be a problem for a guest that didn't want Chinese food. We subsequently discovered that the evening menu in the restaurant was very unappealing and choose to dine elsewhere on the Monday. The toiletries in the bathroom consisted only of liquid soap.

Room Tip: Many rooms on the 2nd floor have been converted to meeting rooms, so the remaining bedrooms tend to...

This hotel is a great location, especially at the moment with the brilliant 'Winter Wonder Land' in the market square; theatre just over the road, etc. :-)

Booked a 'Double' room - we saw a double bed when we got to our room. Note to hotel - if you are going to push 2 beds together to achieve '1 big bed' then make sure they are the same level and guests don't sleep 2 inches lower down than their partner!!!

No need to book breakfast in the restaurant - lots of cheaper options in the cafes / restaurants around town, due to the great location.

Car Parking is a bit of a pain and allocated spaces under building are very limited so would recommend booking. Car Park 'over the road' is 2 streets away and up a steep hill which is not easy with big suitcases and lots of shopping.

Room was clean; quiet and bed was comfy (once I had climbed back down to my side!!!) :-)

Hi and thank you for the review of Ramada Nottingham.

It was great to read the room was clean and comfy, we use zip and link beds in the rooms and the join is normally unnoticeable, I’m sorry it wasn’t on this occasion and have asked the House Keeping team to look into this.

We feel the breakfast offers great value, at only £5.95 for a full all you can eat buffet breakfast there isn’t a better option for value and quality.

As you mentioned we are one of the only City Centre hotels with on-site parking so it is always best to call and book to guarantee a space but if we are we offer heavily discounted rates at the Talbot Street car-park which is on the road parallel to the hotel.

Regards Jeremy

We stayed here to go and see a concert at the Capital FM Arena.
Perfect Location, Walking distance for everything .. Shopping, bars, the tram line and for the Arena. ( We walked to the Arena or you can get the tram)
We stayed in the Apartment of the hotel Room 101 It was amazing, Spacious, King size bedroom with walk in wardrobe and other king size bedroom with lots of space, or you can have single beds for children.
The apartment is over 2 floors, Downstairs you had the bedrooms the toilet with bath and showers with a bday a very long corridor then you go up stairs there is a lovely kitchen with a cooker and microwave (which we didn't use, we ate out) Dinning table, a fire place which is stunning in the evening you can change the colours of the glow. Lovely windows they open all the way So yes we did have a beer can outside under the window to put the fag butts out ..
Shower was amazing lots of pressure and very spacious.
We took our ghetto blaster and alcohol it was fab got us in the spirit.
Downside Settees are very uncomfortable, we stayed at the table playing cards and the Dishwasher is broken and smells, we did call the staff to have a look apparently it is getting taken away and there was a sign on there apparently not to touch but wasn't there when we were there.
Also the Kettle in the kitchen is very very small for the size of the Apartment but the cups are very dinky 2 mouthfuls and gone. So we went to pound land brought some cups and got just about 2 cups out of the kettle ..
Breakfast is help your self from a buffet it was lovely fried full on breakfast or cereal or even both with fresh juice, tea or coffee or both.
Staff are quite nice there but not on Reception rather miserable, car park low on height and a little tight its £12per day but defiantly worth it.
There is also a Smoking Destination
When we had to leave it was 11 o'clock we were allowed to keep our car in their car park until 1 o'clock so we could get a few things before setting home.
If we went back to Nottingham defiantly book here again but there is only ONE Apartment in this HOTEL, so get in there early .. good for family, friends or couples .. We went as 2 x couples

Room Tip: room 101 Apartment

We stayed in this hotel, a good location for the city centre. Woke up in the night rather hot and sticky, threw off the covers and woke up cold however my side on the mattress was very hot. Investigation revealled plastic backed mattress covers, YUK. hot and sweaty and horrid. I understand the need for covers but not plastic ones. Not reccommended.

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel.

It was great to see you rated the hotel on cleanliness, location, value for money and service.

I am sorry the mattress protectors affected your night’s sleep, we use a material protector and have haven’t received negative feedback but I will speak to the Head House keeper to see what options we could offer in the future.

Regards Jeremy

A basic hotel but rooms clean and staff friendly. The menu for the restaurant is very limited but the hotel is close to the city centre so there are lots of earting places within a few minutes walk. The hotel is good value. The bar area is very basic. We went in at 8.30 on a Saturday night and it was empty. There was nobody in the whole restaurant or bar area. This is all one room and there are few places to sit if you want to have a drink. We stayed on room only basis and we would do this again in the future.

We stayed on a KGB deal, two nights with a three course meal and bottle of wine and breakfast each morning.
The good points...
Check in was efficient and the staff were welcoming.
The room was large and clean and the bed was comfortable.
The staff were friendly.
Centrally located close to the city centre
Breakfast was ok
The bad points
Unfortunately our stay was spoiled on the friday evening as we dined in the hotel restaurant.
The menu was extremely limited 4 starters and 2 mains!!. Restaurant staff were conspicuous by their absence and having mixed up our drinks order we then waited 45 minutes for our starters to arrive and when they did they were luke warm and tasteless, A further 50 minutes then passed and our mains had not arrived so we left and went out for our meal.
We complained to the duty manager and although she sympathised with us she offered nothing in the way of a solution.
The meals that we did see coming out looked like the sort of stuff you would buy from Iceland or Farm Foods not what you would expect from a hotel that boasts 3 AA stars
We would stay at the hotel again but would not entertain using therestaurant other than for breakfast.

Booked it for location as we were visiting Royal Concert Hall, only 1 minute walk.
Great value as well as we only paid £69.
Staff were good and friendly. Rooms were a fine size and the beds were very comfy.
Would use again when visiting Nottingham.
