After a long drive through the rain we were met in the car park by a very pleasant young man who took our bags and directed us to reception. After checking in he brought the bags to our room and offered to bring us a drink from the bar, two G&Ts duly hit the spot. Good start, although be warned they are not cheap!
We had been upgraded to a garden room, very clean, stylish and functional, not big but who needs wasted space? Wi-Fi is free but we couldn't connect for an hour or so because it was "too busy" but was fine after that, I'll take that over the always available but overpriced offerings from other luxury hotels. One minor gripe about the design is that the bathroom door is translucent so if you turn on the light in the middle of the night you are likely to disturb your partner, not good. In our room the sliding door did not close fully leaving an inch or so gap, this was reported and is probably fixed now but shouldn't have been like that in the first place. The lift, despite only serving 4 floors, had the most confusing button layout, not helped by the fact that the touch-sensitive buttons were not very sensitive to touch at all.
Breakfast was pretty good, decent bacon, tasty eggs but the sausages might have been good to start with but had dried out somewhat. Not a bad price for ingredients and service of this quality though.
Parking in central Nottingham is expensive but Hart's is not out of line and for the price you effectively get valet parking so I thought it was reasonable.
Probably the best thing about this hotel is the staff who were all charming and made us feel very welcome, minimum fuss, maximum service. Way to go Hart's!

Room Tip: A garden room is nice because you can wander out and get great views over Nottingham

This is a nice little hotel about 5 minutes walk from the city centre, the rooms are a tad small but the staff are friendly and unlike most hotels you can actually get a decent nights sleep due to the fact that the area that the hotel is situated is nice and quiet.

Nice hotel. Very clean. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. Good little bar with tasty snacks, although a shame the bar overlooks the car park. Good views from upper rooms. Nice touches such as Bose radios, late check out and we were given free parking. Hotel has a calm and sophisticated feel. Huge plus point was that it was totally quiet at night, no noise at all. Only disappointment was the size of the bedroom. The bathroom was quite well sized, but not much room in the bedroom. I think this must be a lovely hotel to say in good weather as there is nice outdoor and garden area. Great for business stays. Would stay again for one night, but for a longer visit would want a bigger room.

Stayed on Saturday night, and was pleasantly pleased with the hotel and facilities. The hotel is perfectly located about a 10 minute walk from town in a nice quiet area and the staff were all helpful and polite. The parking is a little expensive on top of the prices for the rooms and I'm not sure why they need to charge so much. The room was a good size, plenty of room to move around. Some slight niggles with the room - the shower took a while to find the right temperature and didn't maintain the same temperature while showering. As always with hotel rooms there was only one tea bag each of everyday tea and only a few sachets of sugar. We did ask for some more from reception and this was brought up very quickly however I do feel that it would have been a nice touch to have it already in the room. They have put the thought in to the fresh milk in the fridge it surprises me that this was overlooked. Also, the only choices of chocolate in the mini bar were both dark chocolate which not everybody likes, it would have been nice to have a choice of both milk and dark. We did take advantage of the room service for breakfast which was a lovely touch. We didn't opt for the full English but what we did have was very tasty and kept us going most of the day! There was only one small issue with breakfast and that was that we weren't provided with an extra bowl for our cereal. We ordered muesli for the both of us and it came in a single large bowl. The park bar had a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere and the cocktails are great! Overall a lovely stay and we will be returning. Thank you, Rachael Hibbert

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for taking the time to post a review. I will pass on your comments to the relevant teams to be discussed. We do normally have milk chocolate available in the rooms and I can only apologise for the single bowl for your breakfast cereal. Please do contact me when you are planning your return. We have eaten at Harts in the past but this was our first overnight stay. We love the location, situated in a quiet little backwater, yet only a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of the city. The hotel public areas, Park Bar and Harts Restaurant are very pleasant. By far the hotel's biggest plus is that of the staff from check in to check out, their can do attitude was second to none. An offer of help with luggage on arrival was very much appreciated. We had one or two disappointments in other areas though. I might add that being typical Brits, we virtually never complain when things are not good but I hope on this occasion our 'complaints' will be taken as constructive criticism. Our room and bathroom were not big but just big enough and basic. Disappointing at £125.00 a night room only. I can see from previous reviewers that there are even smaller rooms than this so they must be very small indeed. Maybe a minor point but again at this rate, robes and slippers would have been expected in our room. On reading the room literature, you can borrow robes (no slippers) if you ring down to reception. When I rang Reception, I have to say, a robe was delivered immediately. Also stated in the literature is that each wardrobe contains 4 coat hangers - 4? Again, you can ask for more but all this is a bit of a niggle at £125 a night. The following was our main complaint. We ate informally in the Park Bar on our first night. My husband chose the rump steak and honestly it was so tough. We did on this occasion complain nicely. The waiters were very apologetic but there was no offer of an alternative or a refund (not the reason for complaining). Breakfast the next morning is quite good but the lighter option is limited in choice and at £9.00 is 'ok' value. The full breakfast looked very nice.

So all in all, a little disappointing, from the value for money point of view. We travel extensively and in comparison, we feel it's a little overpriced.

Room Tip: On reading other reviewers' comments, ask questions about your room before booking.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am pleased that you found our staff pleasant and helpful. I am sorry that you were disappointed with your accommodation – we do take all constructive feedback on board and any workable suggestions for improvement (such as the supply of slippers, coat hangers etc) are discussed further at our regular meetings.
I will make sure your review is passed back to the Park Bar Manager and kitchen team so that they can take on board your comments regarding the steak. Adam Worthington GM
