Owner description: Based in Nottingham’s historic Lace Market, the National Justice Museum is housed in Nottinghamshire’s Grade 2 listed old Shire Hall and County Gaol. The Museum uses original Courtrooms, dungeons and prison cells, along with a number of more contemporary galleries to exhibit collections relating to justice, the law, crime and punishment in a fun and interactive way. “An outing with the grand children”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

We came with 4 children ages between 9 and 13 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We were greeted by the sheriff who discussed Robin Hood's 'wickedness 'with the argumentative children, then to the courtroom, lots of interaction with a mock trial. Great fun and very informative. The prison warder was charmingly evil and again gave lots of facts. The dungeons were very interesting and we learnt plenty about crime and punishment. The exercise yard had names from past prisoners carved on the walls. The very entertaining officer told us about deportations to Australia, executions and we told about Narrow Marsh ,once the other side of the walls.
Altogether a well worth visit,

“Lot's of Fun”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

We absolutely loved this tour. Very interesting, educational and entertaining. The actors were fantastic, very realistic. Would definitely recommend. However, be warned, If you have very young children they may be a bit scared- ours were staying with grandparents but if our 3 year old had been with us I imagine it would have scared her.

“Very nicely done”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

Had friends visiting from Canada and took them here as it's on our doorstep. Have to admit as nottingham isn't a tourist hub I expected it to be the weakest of the attractions we'd planned for them on their trips to Nottm, Bath, Oxford and London... But it turned out to be one of the best! The tour guides are very good - informative and hugely knowledgeable while being very quick witted, friendly and interactive. Can't believe I have lived here so long without visiting.

“First class visit”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

This is really incredible and right on my doorstep! I would recommend getting the double ticket to this and the caves as they are both excellent. You are led by actors and actresses and there are no volunteers involved, so the people who don't like taking part won't have to. You must visit this if you're journey takes you to the city of Nottingham.
