We went to try the As Much As You Like session one Sunday, which is great value for the main dishes. The portion size of mains is huge and would be great for cheap, good quality food with a large party of friends.
However, the starters weren't great (very greasy, and gloopy soup), and there is nothing on the menu to indicate portion size, flavours, spice rating, or suitability for special diets such as nuts. We asked our server to explain some of the dishes we hadn't heard of and all she could really communicate was whether it was hot/sweet/spicy. We picked 2 dishes we knew and 2 we didn't. The girl didn't understand when we asked if rice was counted as one of our 2 choices per person. My husband has a peanut allergy and it turned out one of the unfamiliar dishes we tried was full of peanuts and quite spicy which I'm not keen on, but we knew he couldn't eat it and there is nothing in the menu rules that allows for this kind of situation: all we knew was that if you don't finish it, you have to pay regular menu price for it. We also had no idea the portions would be so big so we had a LOT of food, but as the place was empty except for us the server was watching us the whole time, so we felt like we had to try getting through everything which made us feel rather uncomfortable in numerous ways!
The bar side of the restaurant is very modern and plush while the restaurant is very boring in comparison with cheap plastic table-covers - I wish we could have eaten on the other side and at least had a better atmosphere and more customers besides ourselves. Staff training could also be improved - the waitress took our payment card away from us into the other room while retrieving the card machine which we felt was bad practice, so we trailed her through the building just to keep our card in sight.
The quality and value of main dishes is good though, so if you want plenty of food for a very reasonable price it's a good place to go, however trying to find out what is actually on the menu is quite difficult with the staff's limited English and allergy sufferers need to be careful what they pick.
