“Good value hotel in fairly central location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2013

Stayed at this hotel for one night on 14th-aug 2013. Very reasonably priced and was actually a pleasant surprise. Friendly staff. Didn't actually eat at hotel, but walked into central Nottingham in 15 minutes. Fab pub across the road which serves food and has a great atmosphere. Would stay again if in Nottingham. Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Lots of stairs, so you have to carry cases to room up various sets of stairs.

The hotel is about 20 mins walk to Nottingham city centre. The car park is very tight to manoeuvre into and out of spaces then if you manage to get in a space the biggest problem is that the spaces are so narrow it's hard to actually get out your car!

The receptionist isn't exactly welcoming she obviously does not want to be there.

The rooms are very dated.

The breakfast was fine but the room was small, dull and very dated. The member of staff seating you for breakfast was very friendly.

For a hotel close to Nottingham town centre on a low budget it's not bad.

The hotel has been upgraded since I last stayed but the price has increased - £75 a night even though it was an Ashes week I thought was pricey. But a decent standard, although my room was far from spacious. Decent breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful.

stopped over for a couple of days to take in the first test match at trent bridge.we chose to drive and park, but with a bus stop outside the hotel, there is also that option open for anyone planning a similar stopover.we did use a bus to access the city centre on day one,the driver told us no change is given, and i only had a ten pound note.he then asked if we were visitors, when i replied yes,he invited us on board for a free ride...excellent public relations our room was on the first floor and easily accessed by the lift or stairs.a good sized room with everything you would expect to find,.a shower over a good sized bath, extra kingsized bed.nice size television, desk, comfy seats and plenty of tea and coffee.the room was quiet, and air conditioned, which was appreciated in the heatwave conditions,we had an excellent nights sleep. breakfast was ok,but could have been better.my pet hate, the hotel toaster started me whinging whithin 2 minutes of entering the dining room.they give you either burnt or anaemic toast, nothing in between.then someone got the last fried egg,i waited 10 minutes for more eggs to arrive only for the last of the bacon to disappear.surely its not that difficult to keep things topped up.i gave up,sat down and ate what was on my plate before it went cold.to be fair, the staff were very pleasant, and saying all the right things so i didn,t make a big deal of it.pleased we went out to dinner though,as another similar experience would probably have spoiled what was a nice short stay.

We stayed on a Saturday night and had three rooms booked. When we arrived reception was very busy as there was a wedding reception being held. However, although the receptionist was under pressure she was very helpful & friendly and helped us with getting taxis. If you want a quiet nights sleep ask for a room at the back as it is on the main road and the traffic is noisy all night. The room was spotless, as were the bedding & towels, there was a good sized tv and the bed was very comfy. No air conditioning in the room so it was rather warm but it was during the heatwave!

Next morning the same receptionist was on duty again and she was still bright & cheerful so full marks for her. Breakfast was self-service and there was lots of choice and the staff were very friendly and helpful with everyone - a little boy was impatient for apple juice and his mum was getting their breakfast so one of the staff rushed to help him and he was thrilled to bits he thought he'd got it on his own without mum!

We were very happy with our stay - for the price it was very good value.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room as the main road is very busy even all night

a last minute decision to go to the cricket and I was pleasantly surprised to find a room available . had stayed in hotel a few years ago and was pleased with the room I was allocated on this visit , excellent , as I was using award points the room was free so my expectation was that I would get one of the poorer rooms but this was not the case , the room was superb with plenty of space and lighting , would recommend to anyone visiting the area , well done to all the staff and management

Room Tip: due to the hotel layout ground floor rooms are not always easily accessible

we had booked well in advance as we were going to the test match the 1st day. we had a decent room the executive suite, at the back of the hotel. it was quiet very comfortable, again a large bed lovely en suite, tv opposite bed, good tea and coffee making. no scimping on the milk or sugar. Again just one or two points, as we are getting on in years, we found no hand rail for the bath or bathmat, to stop us from slipping in the bath, plus the shower liquid was not placed near to the shower which could have caused us to slip reaching it, with the room being so large I think a nice comfy sofa would have fitted in nicely. Overall a very lovely room internet should have been free.

Room Tip: state where you want back of hotel or front.
