“great hotel”
Reviewed 10 September 2013

Nice hotel in a good close to the city center. Ate at the hotel every night (5 nights) and the food was lovely, very affordable, great selection and big portion sizes. Rooms are clean and spacious with everything you need in the room from iron and board, hairdryer, tea, coffee, galaxy hot chocolate and biscuits!
Only bad point was being woken up by a prostitute banging on next doors room at 2 in the morning demanding her money but turned out she got the wrong room. Hotel was wrong to let women of this sort in at stupid o'clock in the morning with with very little on! Not representing the hotel in a good light!
On a good night would like to say a big thank you to Maureen the waitress for making my stay an enjoyable and entertaining one, should definitely get employee of the month award!

In Nottingham for a family wedding and stayed at the Westminster, the wedding was in the city center and this is in a good location, close enough for a £5 taxi trip but far enough out to miss the noise.
The staff on arrival were faultless, really friendly and welcoming.
The room was spotless and smelt fresh and clean.
I feel it represents good value for money and would stay again if I was in the area.

Room Tip: If you prefer the quiet life then ask for a room at the rear

I've been staying at the Best Western Westminster in Nottingham for nearly 10 months, so it has virtually become a second home to me.
I've seen a few minor changes and improvements over the months, but the one thing that consistently stands out is the support and friendliness of the staff; nothing is ever too much trouble and they are always willing to listen to comments and suggestions and to help out where they can.
I see that some reviews have been quite critical of the hotel itself, which is a Victorian building and has its own foibles such as creaking floorboards, a maze of interconnecting corridors and fairly snug car parking, although if there are limited spaces, this is usually due to non-residents. However whilst the building may be considered by some to be not as "modern" as some, just walking into reception feels like a welcome return with a chance to unwind with no attempt at pretension that is not backed up by reality.
The restaurant manager, Mo always looks after me well along with her team of Andrew, Rose Luigi and Nicole. Renata, Cassandra and Emily on reception provide a cheery welcome and the manager, Rob, is frequently there to provide support and even to ask for suggestions for improvements.Lorraine, Clare, Rachel, Kirsty and the housekeeping team maintain a low profile, but always leave the rooms tidy, clean and fully stocked, and Shaun and the maintenance crew keep everything properly operational. And yes, they do take note when something is not quite right.
The dinner menu is slightly understated. What is delivered to your table is far better than might be expected from the description, but perhaps that's the ethos of the hotel: provide a high quality without shouting too much about it.There is plenty to choose from and I can't fault any of the dishes. Pricing is very reasonable and presentation, regardless of whether it is in the bar or restuarant, is pretty good. The menu caters for both familiar tastes and a chance to be more adventurous without taking too much risk.
Probably see you there!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front tend to suffer from some traffic noise. Some of the rooms at either end or at th...

I recently stayed at this hotel for one night with my girlfriend. The positioning of the hotel is really convenient for the city centre, which is a £5 taxi ride away. The outside of the hotel looks a bit dated, but the staff are very helpful and welcoming. I stayed in a King room, which was initially quite difficult to find. There are lots of stairs and a maze of corridors in this hotel which might not suit all. I found it quite quirky. The room itself was clean, tidy and everything worked. The fact that it was huge and air conditioned was a bonus! As for the furnishings, the room was a little dated, but things were in good condition. The beige bathroom suite made me smile, but the shower and bath were rather good. As for breakfast, this was served buffet style. There was plenty of selection and the sausage/bacon were of average quality. Everything else was pretty darn good. The coffee machine made the nicest cappuccino I have had in a while. I would most definately stay here again and recommend it to friends. Thanks

Stayed at this hotel for one night on 14th-aug 2013. Very reasonably priced and was actually a pleasant surprise. Friendly staff. Didn't actually eat at hotel, but walked into central Nottingham in 15 minutes. Fab pub across the road which serves food and has a great atmosphere. Would stay again if in Nottingham. Excellent value for money.

Room Tip: Lots of stairs, so you have to carry cases to room up various sets of stairs.

The hotel is about 20 mins walk to Nottingham city centre. The car park is very tight to manoeuvre into and out of spaces then if you manage to get in a space the biggest problem is that the spaces are so narrow it's hard to actually get out your car!

The receptionist isn't exactly welcoming she obviously does not want to be there.

The rooms are very dated.

The breakfast was fine but the room was small, dull and very dated. The member of staff seating you for breakfast was very friendly.

For a hotel close to Nottingham town centre on a low budget it's not bad.

The hotel has been upgraded since I last stayed but the price has increased - £75 a night even though it was an Ashes week I thought was pricey. But a decent standard, although my room was far from spacious. Decent breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful.
