from the outside it just looks any regular building but the inside looks fabulous! the different sections of the inn formed by caverns and it looks truly fantastic in the interior! I don't know what the beer was like because I had a soft drink though. a pleasant experience overall. great inn, friendly staff. bring your camera!

If you're in the area then definitely visit the Trip. A pub that's built into the caves is certainly different... If you like real ale then this pub has a good selection, try a trio of half pints on a plank, to sample all this pub has to offer. Other highlights include the "haunted snug", cellar tours (advance booking required), and a game where you attempt to hook a ring on a rope onto a horn (!).

The Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem is very impressive from the fact that it is set in the rocks and because it is the oldest pub in existence and it is worth visiting just for that. But do no eat there. Like some previous reviews I would agree the food and service was possibly the worse we ever experienced. Added to that, the housekeeping in the pub is appalling, we ate inside in front of a window where the ornaments were almost glued to the glass because of cobwebs and dead flies. The rest of the rooms appeared to be equally as dirty.

We will probably return but certainly will limit it to buying a drink. It is a shame as a good spring clean and a decent chef would make it an exceptional place.

Lovely pub and a nice experience. It was nice to see part of the caves. I ordered Caesar salad but it came with no dressing and some ingredients missing. They refunded me and offered me another main on the house but still not the best. Food is very average but I'm happy that I have been as the pub itself is in a beautiful location. Good ales. More of a pub for a drink not food.

While it was a very unusual place, the food and service was some of the worst I experienced while in the UK. A co-worker had recommended it as a place to visit stating it was the oldest pub in existence and the fact it was situated in a carved out area under Nottingham Castle. The pub surroundings were interesting and unusual - I can say I've been there, but I wouldn't go back.
