Even the teabags were dusty, and the carpet was not clean. The beds were clean though. No mirrors in rooms, but the staff soon gave you ones when you asked. Not bad for a cheap hotel for a night out in Nottingham.

let me start by saying that the staff are very friendly & helpful but from then on it goes down hill faster than Eddie the eagle Edwards , the job i have involves working away from home during the week & sometimes at weekends so the type of accommodation i hope for would be clean & tidy , two words i would never use with this hotel it is disgraceful , the room i had was no9 , it looked like it had not been decorated since the 70s , it had 5 single beds , 1 set of drawers , an ash tray on a rickety table , the shower leaked all over the place so the mat you should have stood on i use to soak up the water this was put in the shower tray hoping it would be changed but no it was still there so i had to dry it out on the radiator so i could use the shower again & to mop up the water after my shower which also had black mould around the base , the mattress had a plastic cover on it this is what i call a urine guard so when they have drunken people staying & they urinate the bed it will prevent the mattress getting wet but it makes for an uncomfortable sleep along with the sounds from the traffic & all the people passing by , i only stayed there 2 nights instead of 3 which the company had booked & i hope i never stay there ever again , on a side note the building is up for sale , if you buy it please knock it down you would be doing a great service to all .

Room Tip: don't stay here go somewhere else.

I was booked into this hotel by a friend who was organising a stag do. Safe to say i wasnt really looking forward to it as i came straight on here to read up on it.

I have stayed in a similar place in the lakes which really put me off so I decided to 'provisionally book' another hotel room elsewhere just incase.

When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted well and the girl behind the desk dealt with a bunch of lads very well.

It was basic and I mean basic but when 12 lads just want to get there heads down after a full day / night on the pop then this does the job. The bar was ok although don't order the Cider, just nip over the road and buy a bottle of sarsons. The lager drinkers among us were happy enough with what was on offer.

One word of warning, Alfreton road was decribed to me as the Manningham lane of nottingham, and i quickly saw what that meant. We didnt witness any trouble at all but i really wouldnt want my daughter/girlfriend staying anywhere near this area.

Taxis will try and rip you off too so be aware...

Room Tip: i think they are all the same. just hope the cleaner has been in the day you arrive.

We had to make a very last minute booking and Clarence Hotel was one of the cheapest with the best location. The rooms are not too clean and the facilities are old. But the towels and bed sheets are very clean and we had free Internet access, also a simple breakfast with no extra charge.

Well where do I start in a nutshell the worst hotel i have ever stayed in! The sooner the place is closed down the better. There was four of us and we would of all prefered to sleep on the streets. We checked into the room the sink and wallpaper was hanging off the wall, the room stunk of s*** followed by two flys chasing us lot round the room all night, the walls were all stained the carpet was originally red and it was pretty much stained black. The place needs to be shut down for everyones safety. Apparently prostitutes roam around the area at night. We were all awoke about 4am in the morn by the sounds of someone squealing like a pig we didnt have a clue what was going on. Please do not stay at this hotel at all costs.

If you want a basic, good value hotel this is it. Rooms aren't great but adequate. Linen is crisp and very clean. Bring all your own toiletarities.

Service is excellent - very friendly and helpful. I asked over breakfast about buses - as well as giving me full info, within a few minutes they had printed off details and map. Also ensured I had the right change! willingly helped with couple of other things.

Breakfast is basic but what do you expect for room rate? Worth extra £2.50 for cooked.

I read reviews before staying here and though, omg i'm putting my life at risk! But not at all! Lovely owner, nice room, secure parking with CCTV and short distance away from the town. The room was nicely decorated and set out. Booked a room with 2 singles, got 4 beds, absolute bonus! What more do you want from a hotel where you get ready to go out, then come back at 5am?! Owner kept keys incase we lost them on the night out, and was awake waiting for our arrival afer the night. Great hotel, free breakfast. Cannot fault it at all!!! Definately book here again, and will recommend to friends.

Room Tip: Book a room for 2, but mention there will be other people staying, you get extra beds!!
