This was a basic hotel. To be fair it did what it is meant to cater too. Provide basic accommodation for large groups on a stag or hen party. A plus point was the cheap drink prices. I don't think I have ever paid less for a Jack and coke (£2). Although, it was not Coca Cola or Pepsi but 'Freeway' cola. The bar did have a tv and a snooker table. A bonus was the beer garden.

The rooms could be summed up in one word- horrific! The carpets were dirty, there was no provision of soap or shower gel, the beds were dusty, the doors were bashed, the walls were marked, the ceiling was marked. Also, there was no mini bar or safe.

On plus side the staff could not have been more helpful but the standard of the rooms were shocking.

Take a step back in time and stay in this hotel. If you were brought up in East Germany in the 1970's this is the place for you. The showers are an amazing embrace of 1970's interior design with authentic 40 year old black mould .
The beds are awesome if you have a bad back very, very firm and don't worry if you wet the bed they have those classy plastic sheets on the mattress.
Ventilation comes via holes in the doors and floors and the sauna comes via the damp patches.
The area is very cosmopolitan with plenty of colours and greeds and plenty of off street parking which you can be assured your car will be admired by the locals.
The staff are very urban and they seem to love there hoodies.
The bar is stocked with plenty of cheap local brew.
So knock yourself out step back in town and have a good time.

We had a city break over the weekend and I must say the hotel was the Big Dog of stays. Really good value and I can't understand the negative views that are in here, the staff are very pollite and friendly and the breakfast was beautifull my only complaint was that the jacuzzi was a little to warm

Even the teabags were dusty, and the carpet was not clean. The beds were clean though. No mirrors in rooms, but the staff soon gave you ones when you asked. Not bad for a cheap hotel for a night out in Nottingham.

let me start by saying that the staff are very friendly & helpful but from then on it goes down hill faster than Eddie the eagle Edwards , the job i have involves working away from home during the week & sometimes at weekends so the type of accommodation i hope for would be clean & tidy , two words i would never use with this hotel it is disgraceful , the room i had was no9 , it looked like it had not been decorated since the 70s , it had 5 single beds , 1 set of drawers , an ash tray on a rickety table , the shower leaked all over the place so the mat you should have stood on i use to soak up the water this was put in the shower tray hoping it would be changed but no it was still there so i had to dry it out on the radiator so i could use the shower again & to mop up the water after my shower which also had black mould around the base , the mattress had a plastic cover on it this is what i call a urine guard so when they have drunken people staying & they urinate the bed it will prevent the mattress getting wet but it makes for an uncomfortable sleep along with the sounds from the traffic & all the people passing by , i only stayed there 2 nights instead of 3 which the company had booked & i hope i never stay there ever again , on a side note the building is up for sale , if you buy it please knock it down you would be doing a great service to all .

Room Tip: don't stay here go somewhere else.

I was booked into this hotel by a friend who was organising a stag do. Safe to say i wasnt really looking forward to it as i came straight on here to read up on it.

I have stayed in a similar place in the lakes which really put me off so I decided to 'provisionally book' another hotel room elsewhere just incase.

When we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted well and the girl behind the desk dealt with a bunch of lads very well.

It was basic and I mean basic but when 12 lads just want to get there heads down after a full day / night on the pop then this does the job. The bar was ok although don't order the Cider, just nip over the road and buy a bottle of sarsons. The lager drinkers among us were happy enough with what was on offer.

One word of warning, Alfreton road was decribed to me as the Manningham lane of nottingham, and i quickly saw what that meant. We didnt witness any trouble at all but i really wouldnt want my daughter/girlfriend staying anywhere near this area.

Taxis will try and rip you off too so be aware...

Room Tip: i think they are all the same. just hope the cleaner has been in the day you arrive.

We had to make a very last minute booking and Clarence Hotel was one of the cheapest with the best location. The rooms are not too clean and the facilities are old. But the towels and bed sheets are very clean and we had free Internet access, also a simple breakfast with no extra charge.
