“Good place to stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 November 2013

Stayed here for 2 nights and can highly recommend. Clean comfortable and staff friendly.
Only a couple of things which bugged me.
One was the toilet roll very cheap. Hotels need to put a better quality paper for guests to use.
Fried eggs at breakfast were hard and need to be changed more frequently.
Near to car park in queen street. multi storey and can park there for £6 for 24 hours. a 3 minute walk from hotel. You can walk through the station.
Oh just one more thing was the soap dispenser for sink much too high on wall needs to be lowered

Stayed on 8th November. Handy for the FM Arena. Staff friendly and room OK although not really cheap. Good choice on breakfast buffet but the only hot thing was the sausage. Bacon, black pudding and tomatoes all cold and fried eggs cold, undercooked and slimey! Didn't really understand why we were told that breakfast was £7 if pre-ordered or £10 if we didn't order??? Menu said it was £6.95. Receptionist tried to charge us £42 for 3 breakfasts when we checked out. We had only stayed for one night so an admin mistake and soon sorted. Not sure about staying again.

Stayed here overnight while visiting friends in Nottingham. Hotel was easy to find - parking was not. We ended up parking in the train station multi storey - which is half the price ( and looks much safer) than the car park which advertises 'hotel parking'...

On arrival the staff were very helpful and happy, and put us on the 11th floor, which was great as we had seen a stream of rowdy lads come in to check in.

The room itself needs its decor updating, the room was stuck in the 90s with its pastel peach decor and light wood. The whole room just felt tired and in need of bringing up to date! The bed was very comfy though and the shower was hot and powerful!! Views from the 11th floor were great - request if you want great views and a quiet hallway!!!

Also, there was no free WiFi in the rooms.

Having stayed in more up to date jurys inns, I would still stay with the company again but attention to detail is what makes a stay go from good to great.

Hotel is very close to the station and had all of the amenities you would expect to find. Personally I found the room very warm but admit to not trying to alter the heating system.

The food was reasonably priced and you could order off the same menu in the bar or the restaurant.

We stayed here on a Saturday to visit our son who is at Nottingham Uni, and so we only needed a bed for the night.
We have stayed here before for the same reason, and when we walked in the room we decided we shouldn't have given it another try.
We will not be going back, there are a lot better budget hotels in the area

I arrived early, ahead of a party of 7 staying for an event nearby. I drove round the block twice trying to find somewhere to park, then when I realised there was no car park I stopped in the Loading bay and dropped my bags before setting off to find the car park. the car park is too far from the hotel and although there is a shuttle service advertised, this was not available when I parked up. it cost £8 as I was there before 4pm after 4pm to 9am cost is £7. Another of our party received a parking ticket while unloading her bags (Jurys Inn have said they will reimburse this) she then also parked her car up and had to walk back in the rain, the shuttle was still not available. another of our party was disabled and the guy dishing out tickets was affronted when the carer asked him to keep an eye on the bags while she took her charge into the dry, luckily a stranger helped out. perhaps he was too busy lining up the tickets for people dropping bags.

Once checked in it seems all about saving pennies, as some one else said the Hotel looks stunning from outside but dated once you start to look closely, there are no biscuits provided on the room trays, the shampoo, shower gel and hand soaps are all in fixed wall mounted pump dispensers which are actually quite difficult to use if you have a wash sponge. The WiFi connection is £5 for an hour or £10 for 24hours, but you have to register a credit card to your room in advance.
The bar was busy and service was quite good, but another bar person would have helped especially as it filled up before everybody departed for the event that a lot of people were booked in for.
At 1am my room ventilation kicked in, it sounded like someone was driving a truck up the corridor, I had to get up and turn it off, I had it set on a low speed with the room temperature set to 18c.
The breakfast was spoiled by more penny pinching, something as simple as watering down the Orange Juice by what tasted like 50%, I mentioned this to the Maître De as I left and he looked surprised.
As an individual and as a company we will not be using any Jurys Inn again.

Room Tip: Premier Inn across the road

This hotel looks pretty modern from the outside, so we were quite tempted to give it a go.

Its located in a quite nice spot by the canal near the station. Parking was a challenge, but the newly built train station car park was really great value. Avoid the unofficial car parks nearby - the prices are outragious.

The rooms were a bit of a dissapointment actually, quite small, the decor actually feels really dated. Even though we were on the 11th floor (top floor) and had a great view all the furnishings in the room felt tired, and a lot older than I think the hotel is (which is wierd).

Reception was pretty good service, and breakfast wasnt included in our stay (bit of a rip off).

Checking out was quite flat too, not even a comment about if we enjoyed our stay - just handed back the key card... so it felt a bit dissapointing after spending the best part of £80 there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room as high as possible it, the views are better, ideally toward the canal.
