We arrived for one night on Wine Dine and Stay £98 we had paid an extra £20 on booking to stay in a Superior room.Room 104 William Wordsworth room is lovely with a four poster, hadn't expected this so it was a nice surprise. The bathroom though was the highlight about as big as the bedroom with huge shower, double sink unit and roll top bath in the centre of the room.I felt like royalty in the tub!!
The meal in The Georgetown was faultless apart from my other half wanted the cheese board instead of dessert and this wasn't included so we paid extra for that..seems a bit mean that's all..On a sunnier day you could probably potter around the garden and sit on the patio but as it was grey and a function was being held in the 'other room' we did feel like there was no where else to go to before or after the meal other than our room. For one night though this wasn't too much of a problem, gorgeous place, would definitely stay again!!!

Dear LynnyG123

It was great to serve you and thanks for the fabulous review. The Wine Dine and Stay deal has been ever so popular and I am so glad you thoroughly enjoyed every bit of your Colwick Hall experience. I take your point re the cheese board and we will reform that aspect. Let me know of your return plans and we will no doubt make that up to you then - Fathers Day is coming up!!

Look forward to seeing you again

Kind regards
Selva

My boyfriend and I stayed here last night for a last minute night away. We only paid £59 through bookings.com, what a bargain! we arrived a good couple of hours before the 2pm check in but the staff were fantastic and let us check in early.

The room and bathroom were huge, very clean and well furnished. The bed was lovely and comfortable

We ate both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant both were fantastic, the guy serving in the restaurant was very attentive and we were served our food quickly.

The hotel had a function during the evening/ night (wedding reception) and took the time to call me a few days before hand to warn us about the possible noise. Although the party was not far from our room the noise was not an issue and we both slept like babies!

This morning we went for a walk in the area, lovely!!

Thank you Colwick, hopefully we'll be back.

Our daughter got married here at Easter, and it is a beautiful backdrop for the photos. The larger rooms were stunning, with amazing bathrooms. Food was all delicious, but we got what we paid for. The night porter was really informative, having carried out some significant research into he history of the hall - worth chatting to for the historical background.
We found the rooms unbearably hot, and having turned off the radiators still had to keep the windows open the whole time. We thought the staffing levels were far too low, the receptionist, who was brilliant did everything from unblocking a toilet to cleaning the bridal suite -if she hadn't done it, it would not have been done for the return of the married couple , which is very poor!
We had quite a delay before we were called in for our meal, but my daughter had arranged entertainment which luckily continued beyond the time that had been paid for, otherwise guests could have got quite board. For a large party there was a distinct lack of staff, so a long wait at the bar, and on several occasions my daughter went round clearing up - not what you expect a bride to be doing on her wedding day.
We all had a fabulous time in an beautiful setting, but I must say the success of the day was done to the massive amount of organising done by my daughter rather than the hotel.

Room Tip: For a treat the expensive rooms are worth it

We stayed at Colwick in 2012 when we needed some time away from it all, the location is stunning, the rooms full of heritage devoured. If you want somewhere where you really feel the history and past glory then this is the place to be. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was delicious and well presented and the views of the lake were beautiful. We watched the cormorants basking in the sun and thoroughly enjoyed an evening woodland walk after dinner. A paradise of past splendour and sumptuous surroundings. It may have been a while since our visit but I have every confidence that things will be as lovely now. We had dinner at the Marsh Cat on the Wirral and this was an experience. We were visiting family there and the food was stunning, I heartily recommend the soft shell crab ( ring in advance to order), the food, wine and service were without fear of exaggeration, divine. A perfect stay, go there if you want incredible food!

Room Tip: All rooms are stunning.

We had attended a sad family gathering on a cold day in March and turning into the drive for the hotel really lifted our spirits. The hotel is undeniably beautiful. We walked in to be greeted by the lady behind the reception desk who was welcoming, efficient and professional. Our room overlooked the front of the house and was fabulous. What was very nice was the fact that the room was lovely and cosy on such a chilly day. We had dinner in the hotel and enjoyed the elegance of the dining room, the courtesy of the staff and most of all - the food. Breakfast was excellent as well. The staff are a credit to the establishment. I really could not fault this hotel, it was just lovely.

Dear Dessertblossom

It was a pleasure serving you despite the circumstances that brought you to Colwick Hall.
Sam is so pleased with your kind comments and we are grateful for all your feedback.

The chefs in our Georgetown Restaurant offer a good mix of both colonial Malaysian together with British classics and am glad you enjoyed the offering during the short stay.

When you are next in the UK and have plans for Nottingham we would love to host you and your guests.

Kind regards
Selva

We held our Golden Wedding Anniversary at the Georgetown Restaurant at Colwick Hall recently with a high tea. We chose this venue for sentimental reasons as we had our wedding reception there 50 years ago, we certainly didn't regret it as the room was perfect for people to mingle and for ourselves to get around to speak to everyone. The food was very good and the restaurant manager couldn't do enough for us. We felt we couldn't have chosen anywhere better for this celebration.

Over the last 3 months I have stayed here 3 times and each time I have been so impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the comfortable rooms. Quick and easy taxi ride from the train station makes getting in and out a breeze. Joggers will enjoy running around the lake. The Georgetown restaurant offers both modern British classic complemented by Malaysian specialties.
