“Fading fast!”

Stayed during Test Match in July. A longish way from Trent Bridge and even further to city centre. Looks impressive on arrival and this is essentially now a party/ prom/ wedding venue. Rooms were dated and faded. Service patchy. Breakfast disappointing, poor ingredients and "plastic" bread. Not good value for the price and taxi fares on top! Need to decide if they're serious about guests staying as their core business seems to be mass catered events and the noise they entail?

I took my friend for afternoon tea for her birthday. When we arrived we had to park quite a way down the lane as there was no room in the car park. The Byron room is lovely, afternoon tea was very nice and our waitress, Amy, was very good. Unfortunately there was a noisy wedding (we hadn't been told there was a wedding when we booked like other halls do) Drummers, fire crackers, expensive cars & motorbikes revving loudly for quite a time. So it wasn't quite the relaxing afternoon we anticipated.

We came to Colwick Hall for a mothers day afternoon tea for my mum which I booked through a travel agency for the price I thought we should have had more sandwiches and cakes but the afternoon tea was very nice and the staff were very friendly we had a look in the back gardens whilst we were there their was a wedding on at the time but the grounds were really lovely and there was also a lake as well.

my wife and I stayed here for one night while in the area
booked through a website which was easy and found the place o.k
the building from the outside looks very nice and the restaurant and public rooms are nice
there is also a champagne bar but when we were there there was no one serving, however we got drinks from the main bar and sat out side
the restaurant is modern in style and the food was nice and reasonably priced.

the room was big and had some interesting features as it is an old building but there were some issues - the blind was damaged and did not close properly(which I told reception about) and when we were outside we could see the room next to ours had a large rip in the curtain
the bathroom floor was wet under the tiles after a shower so there is obviously a leak from somewhere
overall decor was o.k but paint chipped off wooden areas and a fridge with the plastic parts removed made it not very nice

reception staff very pleasant and overall this was o.k but there are some maintenance issues to deal with - rated as a 4 star but i have been in a lot better 3 star hotels

Room Tip: rooms at the rear overlook the gardens and fountain which are nice

We stayed here this weekend and all I can say is it's average. Nothing special and nothing rubbish. the breakfast was ok, but luke warm, the place itself seriously needs some TLC. The large picture windows need cleaning, the walls need to be painted etc. This place should be full of character, but it feels run down and tacky. We paid £140 or a executive room, and in einsight it really wasn't worth it. Also, unfortunately a few members of staff need to learn a bit of self hygiene as it's not very pleasant when they are serving you food. They tom and inked a bit! My partner also said that the gents loos were not pleasant to go in to.

I stayed at this hotel for the weekend of the outlaw ironman triathlon. The people there went out of their way to help our group, storing our bikes in their office and setting out some breakfast for our 3am start on race day. We couldn't have asked for a friendlier, more helpful place to stay.

My daughter got married at Colwick Hall last week. Everything was superb. All the staff went out of their way to help make the day special. The Hall and grounds make the perfect backdrop for a romantic wedding. The Manager, Binoi, could not have done more to help and organised everything perfectly. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: If you are visiting in summer the rooms at the back of the house benefit from being cooler.
