“Great spa and food package in a convenient location”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

I was treated to a trip to this hotel for my birthday by my boyfriend and friends. If you want a hotel set in rolling grounds and a quiet location this is probably not the one for you but it surpassed our expectations in terms of the level of service and the range of relaxation areas available. The food espcially during the evening and breakfast services was fantastic and the courtyard bar areas were lovely. They do host weddings and it was busy for a weekend but that adds to the atmosphere. It was good for groups of friends or hen do's if you want a nice relaxing trip with everything on site. Only 15 mins to Nottingham City Centre too.

Room Tip: Thes superior rooms have a balcony which is great in the summer when the rooms can get very hot.

Six of us from our ladies skittles team booked a one night spa package as an end of season treat - what fantastic value for money!
The hotel itself is lovely, with all the facilities you would expect from a four star establishment. A buffet lunch, three course evening meal and buffet breakfast were all included in the price, together with one 50 minute or two 25 minute spa treatments.
The spa treatments were excellent and the therapists were very professional. The pool area is quite small and was very busy on the first afternoon of our stay. The poolside area is limited with just a few loungers and chairs but there is a spa pool, sauna and steam room. It's a shame that there is no direct access to the outside as it would have been nice to soak up the sunshine in between use of the different facilities. The spa is open to residents from 7:00am and I had the whole place to myself for a while on the second morning of our stay, which was lovely.
The buffet lunch was very good, with a wide choice of salads or hot meals and desserts on offer. As the hotel was very busy on the weekend of our stay, we were asked to pre-order dinner from a quite extensive menu. The standard of the food was absolutely excellent - I would happily have paid £50 or £60 for the meal, which was on a par with anything that I've had at any fine dining restaurant. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the food and service as the restaurant was packed and they were also catering for a large wedding party in one of the function rooms.
Breakfast was also very good, with plenty of choice and as much as you could eat.
Service throughout our stay was first class and all the staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this package - in fact we are already considering booking a two night package at another QHotel for a girlie weekend away next year.

We booked a spa break. From entering the hotel to leaving we were made to feel extremely welcome. The spa, pool, room and food were exceptional, we couldn't fault anything the whole stay. This particular break was exceptional value for money. The rooms are really well equiped, have a bath and a separate shower, with good tea making facilities, a trouser presser, decent hair dryer, the most comfortable of beds.

A warm &'friendly welcome. Dark rooms with little space. Awful restaurant whose quality of food was matched only by the awfulness of the service. I guess this caters more for the corporate or conference clientele but in reality, for the prices charged, the food should have been better. Even the spelling on the menu was awful. The beds were ok but not brilliant. No iron in the wardrobe. Clean. I booked this based on its reviews & star rating, but I think it would have been just as good at one of the cheaper no-frills establishments. Disappointed

We stayed here at this convenient to the motorway located hotel. . A warm welcome from the Reception Team and a speedy check-in.
Our room was clean, bright and cheerful. the bed was very comfortable although the pillows were not unfortunately. A lovely clean bath room with bath and shower. everything we needed. Breakfast was superb. Two minor problems though. The noise coming from some other guests was very irritating especially as it went on until 2am. I'm all for people enjoying themselves but it's very selfish when they carry on laughing and talking loudly at that time.Very difficult though for the Hotel Staff to manage I suppose. The other minor complaint is why at breakfast is loud, beat music played in the background. Why not gentle background,(piano?) music if any has to be played. these are minor complaints because I would definitely recommend. Great access to Nottingham City Centre and of course the M1.

more positives than negatives , firstly the positives
- excellent quick check in, very friendly check in staff , good close car parking .
- good size room ( paid slightly extra for a superior room which included a bottle of lager, 2 bottles of water, 2 bottles of coke, a small bottle of wine, bathrobes ) which was a lovely size room , although to me the lighting is quite dim and my wife found it hard to find anywhere in the room with sufficient light to get ready ( for a wedding)
- good quality food ( served in the bar , apparently the 'restaurant' is always fully booked) , the bar area is good enough, we had a table for 7 people, good food, usual hotel prices.
- excellent friendly bar staff . ( 1 woman served me at 9ish in the bar and was back in the restaurant for breakfast at 8am)
breakfast itself is acceptable , decent buffet style full english with decent standard ingredients ( have had better, Ibis shepherds bush london do an amazing quality breakfast for similar money) and layout is a bit haphazard . orange/fruit juices are a good 50 feet from croissants etc, you dont even see them till you leave.
in the superior room , fantastic bed ( queen size i think ) although the pillows are desperately thin , the bathroom/ shower facilities are excellent

negatives.

- apart from the above mentioned ( issues with breakfast etc )

- another hotel chain that drives me mad when it comes to the 6am corridor doors slamming, room next door's phone ringing for 3 minutes waking everyone for 3 rooms either side up. one day a hotel chain will actually spend good money when they build their hotels by putting much better noise reduction into dividing room walls, and maybe one day a hotel chain will find a way of stopping room doors/ corridor doors from waking everyone up in the early hours

- minor negative , not especially the hotel's fault but still bear in mind, we stayed here for a wedding in nottingham and returned to the hotel at 10pm , whilst sitting in the bar area there ensued an almighty 'free for all' consisting of a dozen or more nottingham based local people , apparently celebrating a 16th birthday , falling out of a room they had booked off the reception area, all in a crazy state of an alcohol induced sillyness, all wanting to fight each other, until they were ushered out of the hotel.

in summary, nothing that would put me off staying here again, the best redeeming memory is the excellent professional attitude of the reception/bar staff

We stayed at this hotel running a conference. The staff were all extremely helpful during our stay. They were always smiling and nothing was too much trouble. The Conference Manager was most efficient.
Very nice rooms, good size with pleasant decor and relaxing views. The food was excellent too served to a large group efficiently. So, many thanks. I hope we may be able to return.
