“Wonderful, helpful and cheerful staff”
Reviewed 8 December 2013

We decided to meet up with friends at the Cotswold Gateway Hotel for lunch. Considering this was into the party season we should have booked in advance. However, the staff were so accommodating and found us a table by a roaring log fire. The lunch was simply delicious and the staff so friendly and cheerful. The food was great, the portions large and the presentation very creative. Considering the amount of people and parties that were going on at the time one could only wonder at how good the service was in the circumstances. We will certainly go back again and perhaps book into the hotel for a couple of nights.

We have just returned from a two day break at this hotel. We cannot fault it. The room was excellent. The restaurant menu was comprehensive with a wide and varied selection. The food was out of this world. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast selection was fresh and tasty. A large onsite car park means you do not need to worry about parking.

Recently stayed here for 3 nights found the food and service was fantastic. We had our dog with us which was also made made welcome and they even put us in a room where it was easy to take her out to the field beside the hotel.

After a day in the Cotswolds, we spontaneously decided to spend the night in this hotel without previous booking and it ended up to be one of the best parts of the trip. The room was very clean and cosy, and the beds very comfortable. The stuff was friendly and we enjoyed a tasty breakfast. This is a very recommendable hotel to stay in if you´re around the Cotswolds.

Booked a table while down on a short break in Oxfordshire. Simply by looking at the menu it appears to be expensive however when the food arrived you got every penny that you paid for. Great food, warm with a good atmosphere.

Beware..... Either have a starter or a dessert else you'll roll out of there. The dessert portions (white chocolate and malteaser cheesecake) are huge.

Highly recommend.

My family found this to be one of the best hotels in the UK for price, service and quality of food.
Nothing was to much trouble for the staff.

Being a Grade 1 listed building the owners are not allowed to install a lift, this reduces the use by disabled etc., other wise the hotel would rate EXCELLENT in all areas

Room Tip: Some rooms are facing the main road, just ask the management they go out of their way to help you...

We have stayed at the Cotswold Gateway Hotel on a few occasions. Each has been wonderful. The pub is incredible. It is a little pricey, but well worth it. The meals are extraordinary, and well beyond the typical pub food. Favorites are the baked stilton mushrooms for a starter, and their pies -- chicken, mushroom & tarragon, steak; stilton & ale. The rooms are fairly large -- we had a very comfortable king bed. The showers were great -- large towels. Free parking and wifi are always a plus. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We enjoy Burford -- wonderful place -- but we really keep going back for the food and hotel. This is a Cotswold gem.

Room Tip: Rooms on the top floor are quieter -- the pub is old and floors creak.
