“lovely anniversary stay”
Reviewed 29 December 2013

Thanks to Heth and Mark for sharing our Cotswold anniversary weekend. The hotel was lovely and the staff very attentive. It is ideally positioned for exploring Burford and its excellent Pubs and shops.

Evening meal was lovely (if not a touch on the pricey side) but portions were very generous.
Breakfast was also very good in that the buffet style allowed for various appetites to be satisfied.

Room Tip: Family room upgrade offers more generous size plus very little noise from road

booked for Sunday night, as I thought, , Stuart the manager had us in for Saturday, my fault /his fault I don't know, probably mine, as we have stayed there loads of times before, & Stuart is very professional & more than helpful, anyway the guy on reception that night found us another place down the road, so know problem, the staff, the owner, the rooms the, service the food, you will not fault, at the Cotswold gateway nothing too much trouble, but book early, as in Burford the night we stayed, it was the only place full, that has to tell you how good it is, thanks again guys...see you soon

Room Tip: ground floor annexe, especially if you have a dog, but other wise any of them

This is a beautiful family fun hotel with great food, excellent rooms and friendly staff who have a can do attitude. The steaks are fabulous and would highly recommend the Thai Steak salad, would definitely return.

Stayed as part of a family group which occupied 20 or more of the rooms over a long weekend. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and well equipped .food was good , service prompt and fairly priced. Staff were friendly , flexible in accommodating any special requests we had and very professional.

Room Tip: If you like to sit in your room as opposed to the public areas I suggest you ask for one of the larg...

I stayed at the Cotswold Gateway Hotel this weekend and I was delighted by how lovely, helpful and accommodating that staff were. My friends and I were attending a wedding down the High Street and the man behind reception overheard our conversation about booking a taxi to get there. He offered to drive us there himself, therefore saving us a taxi fare. That night, when we returned from the wedding, my friend was suffering with a migraine. Again, the staff in the hotel overheard us talking about the migraine and suddenly the staff were running around the hotel trying to find something to make him feel better. They went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The bedroom was spotlessly clean, the bar area was so cosy, we almost wished we could have stayed there instead of going to the wedding! The next morning we had a fantastic breakfast (after a very comfortable sleep) and the manager advised of us places to visit after we checked out.

I will definitely come back and stay at this hotel again. Customer service goes a very long way and I will always return to a place that makes you feel as welcome as the staff at the Cotswold Gateway Hotel.

Stayed for a weekend in February 2013 (it was very cold and snowed). When we arrived, the hotel upgraded us and that made the weekend feel much better. Lovely old room with huge bed and plenty of space for a cot. Easy walking into Burford (although not as easy coming back as it is on the top of a hill!!). Our room faced away from the main road and was very quiet. The only problem we had was that they don't serve dinner till late and it was too late for our little one (1 1/2) who got very hungry and grumpy and tired. We went out for food in Burford second night and was much better. But overall, a lovely hotel with excellent staff (they kept little ones milk for him and let us go into the kitchen in the morning to get it even though no one was in yet).

We decided to meet up with friends at the Cotswold Gateway Hotel for lunch. Considering this was into the party season we should have booked in advance. However, the staff were so accommodating and found us a table by a roaring log fire. The lunch was simply delicious and the staff so friendly and cheerful. The food was great, the portions large and the presentation very creative. Considering the amount of people and parties that were going on at the time one could only wonder at how good the service was in the circumstances. We will certainly go back again and perhaps book into the hotel for a couple of nights.
