My family and I had a wonderful weekend at The Gateway Hotel. Eight of us had dinner on the Saturday and eleven of us had Sunday Lunch. From the moment we arrived we were treated superbly. All the staff were helpful, polite and thoroughly professional. The food was excellent, the service fantastic. All in all we were delighted to stay at the Gateway it made for a most memorable, wonderful stay.

Enjoyed a lovely relaxing weekend stay at the Cotswold Gateway. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The short walk down into Burford takes only a few minutes. However, its harder work going back uphill, as its quite a steep pull up. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, the atmosphere laid back and friendly. No complaints at all.

We were staying in Burford and needed somewhere to eat and we came accross this place which was within walking distance. We didnt stay here, only eat but it was so good on the first night, we decided to return on the second night during our stay in Burford. On the first evening we arrived quite early 6.30pm and we were greeted by 3 very friendly staff behind the bar who asked if we wanted a table for dinner. There is one large round table right in the window which they let us have and it was really comfortable. The menu is huge and normally it puts me off when the chef has too many continents to worry about! There was typical British pub grub, Thai, Indian, Italian.....the menu just went on and on. We initially thought the starters were slightly overpriced at between £6 - £8 each but when you see the size of them, then you realise why. Most mains ranged from £15 - £22 which sounds quite a lot but presentation, quality of the food and taste was very very good. None of the portions are small and the plates are gigantic!!! The food was hot, delicious and presented really well and there was absolutely nothing we could fault. The staff were superb, they smiled, they were friendly and continously took plenty of drinks orders from us and kept us hydrated with lots of wine! We had such a lovely evening, we book the same table for the next night and although the menu had changed very slightly we had another brilliant evening and possibly spent far too much again but it was worth it. I have no idea what the rooms were like but the restaurant was packed on both evenings which speaks volumes. If you are driving past its well worth a stop.

Had a relateively pleasant stay in what was an acceptable room in a nice country style Hotel, although found the Late Check out charges outragous given i was 1/2 hour late in what i feel is an early check out of 11am on a Sunday Morning. Raised with Hotel manager but was fobbed off by bad excuses not relevant to me and told was standard.

We stayed in a large group for a wedding. The staff were generally extremely nice and helpful, particularly in the restaurant. The hotel was nice although located on a roundabout. The rooms were pretty small for the price paid. We were on the whole let down by the fact that at no point during the reservation process, during check in or during breakfast told that check out was at 11 am and not 12 noon like most hotels. On top of this, they didn't have the curtesy to call us in our rooms to let us know that if we didn't vacate by 11 am, we would have a £20 late check out fee added to our bills. I don't object to hotels having late check out fees but what I strongly object to is not being told at any time what time check out was, and having assumed it was 12 noon and when checking out at 12 noon, to have the extra charge added to our bill without being forwarned. When the charge was contested, the hotel staff (and I actually believe it was owner Andrew Dearie) was very rude and unpleasant saying that the charge was final and there was nothing to discuss.
