“A Delightful B&B!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2012

My Husband and I stayed for four nights whilst looking to relocate to the Cotswolds area. Peter,Sally and Digby their lovely Spaniel were perfect hosts. Star Cottage is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. Breakfast (lots of choices!) was always perfect and served in a lovely tranquil setting. The local pub is a a nice friendly "village" pub serving excellent food. As it was December Burford looked extra stunning with its Christmas decorations. All in all a very enjoyable stay.

My husband and I stayed three nights at Star Cottage in early November. We stayed in the Barn which was in the garden and perfect for us as it gave us plenty of room to relax and also the option of using the kitchen which we did one night. I felt terribly spoilt having the delicious hot breakfast bought to our table in the Barn - it was a treat and I could stay in my pyjamas! Sally and Peter were friendly and helpful hosts and the furnishings are cosy and unique and the cleanliness was of the highest standard. Star cottage is located in a lovely village, we did a very pleasant walk from the cottage, through fields, along the river and into Burford which has a huge selection of eateries. We had lunch at the Angel in Burford - absolutely delicious. You won't regret your stay at Star Cottage.

The B&B is an easy reach from London if you'd like a little weekend getaway. Peter and Sally are very friendly and welcoming to their lovely cottage, with homely decor and cozy rooms. Breakfast menu is varied and more interesting than the norm, with quality food locally sourced.
Local pub lively and friendly, other good pubs local for food within walking distance. Local village Burford is absolutely beautiful. Nice country walks right from the doorstep, with their spaniel Digby if you are up for it! Peter also very kindly collected us from the station and dropped us back at the end of our stay - amazing!
I would recommend this place to anyone, and have already!

Just arrived back from a two night break at this fine Guest House. We travelled with friends as two couples so had the Guest House rooms to ourselves, really nice to be our own. Don't get me wrong we have been to many other Guest Houses with more rooms but it was really nice to be just us with our friends, all due respect to other guests previous and future.
Prior to the day of arrival we contacted Peter and Sally to see if we could leave our car by the Guest House as we intended to arrive midday and make the most of our two day break. Not only did they say no problem but also that we could drop our bags etc off at the Guest House and check in, very good of them as check in is really from 4pm onwards.
At this point I must say that you will not meet nicer hosts than Peter and Sally, really make you welcome into their home and are so accommodating to your needs.
As for their home, the Guest House, the bedrooms were very comfortable and well furnished, the usual tea coffee etc provided within the room and delicious biscuits.
Breakfasts, well these are superb, from fresh fruit, cereals etc, to a fine choice of full english, fish dishes etc and lovely toasts and preserves, plentiful tea and coffee also.
If it is your style like ours you can do a lovely circular walk from Fulbrook taking in the local fields and woodland and river walks back via Burford, mid point via a short deviation is into Swinbrook where you can enjoy lunch at the Swan Inn.
Obviously the main central area is Burford, so pleasant to walk through the High Street and those just off it, to the many shops, cafes and public houses.
In an evening we chose to eat at the Royal Oak, just off the High Street, a real local pub with excellent hearty food, highly recommended. The second evening we ate at the Costswold Arms, again an excellent meal in the restaurant at the rear, staff were very friendly.
All in all, I highly recommend a visit to this area of the Cotswolds and if you do you must stay at the "Star Cottage" first class.

We stayed here the night before my sisters wedding and it could not have been anymore perfect for her. The cottage was stunning, well decorated, spotlessly clean, quirky and well thought out with ironing board, wine glasses to providing washing up liquid!
The breakfast was amazing with fresh fruit, cereals and perfectly cooked from a wide choice available.
Even digby the dog makes the stay so memorable.
Short walk to cracking pub called carpenters arms with great food.
Thank you for such a special stay

Star Cottage was a superb little find. A 3 bedroomed B & B within the Sawdays stable of guest houses. A wonderful welcome by Peter, beautifully equipped bedrooms, in a wonderful location near to a pub (Carpenters Arms) which we tried on one night (the pub was Ok but not amazing). The breakfast was delicious, fresh fruit inc nectarines, berries and oranges which was delivered in gorgeous crockery. Fresh juices and a huge selection of cooked items to suit all tastes. Well done Star Cottage - we will be back. :-)))

Room Tip: I had room 2 and it was lovely - shower was a tiny bit small but not uncomfortble.

We are a family of four who stayed for a family wedding for 2 nights in July.
We have never stayed in a b&b before, always opting for a large 5 star hotel.

Instantly we felt at home and were greeted warmly and shown our immaculate and very spacious family room. Peter and Sally have not scrimped at all. The sheets were Egyptian cotton and the pillows were fluffy and comfortable. There were home made biscuits, tea, hot chocolate, sewing box, etc, etc. We gave our breakfast order the night before and in the morning had one of the best cooked breakfasts we've ever had. Sally's fruit salad was amazing!
We wouldn't hesitate in going back. We all slept so well and didn't hear a thing all night, unlike some hotels!
The highlight for the children was Digby, Sally and Peter's lovely dog. They took him for a walk which made their day.
