We stayed here 3 nights for the Wilderness Festival about 20 minutes drive away.

THE HOTEL
Set in the quintessential English countryside, this Oxfordshire country inn with 11 rooms is utterly charming. We stayed in the Riverside Cottage with view of the little brook.
The B&B has 4 stars and I would rate it as broadly 4.5 stars overall on our specific experience. From the reviews/photos from other reviewers, whether it is a 4.5 star or a 3.5 star really depends on luck.

We were in luck and were given a room in the cottage/house opposite the inn facing on to the stream. Our room, Riverview (upstairs) is highly recommended.

THE ROOM:
On stepping into the Riverside cottage, the first thing that strikes you is how new this cottage is. Not just in the finishing but also in the smell. Solid oak (?) floors in the bathroom with claw footed tub, bespoke Bantam Bath products are there to welcome the guests. The room had an inviting super king and despite the sloping ceiling, offered plenty of space, light and charm.

FOOD
The typical room rate includes breakfast. Whilst the buffet is simple (toast, plain croissant, jam, yoghurt, tea, coffee), you do get to order off a hot menu offering full English, kippers, scrambled eggs with salmon and porridge. Breakfast was filling and good but nothing out of this world...although I am not quite sure what would be out of this world. What was however a nice touch was that breakfast was held in the conservatory facing on to the garden of the inn with chickens wandering around.

SERVICE
The service at the inn was friendly and competent. They do have a disproportionate number of foreign workers which meant that you have to repeat requests. This wasn't a huge issue and ultimately the staff were always keen to help.

TIP(S)
The surrounding land is farmland. If you are a sensitive sleeper, bring an eyemask (the curtains whilst not bad aren't black out) and bring ear plugs. You will be woken by sheep bleating, cows mooing and/or cockerels crowing.

Room Tip: Riverview was beautiful with views on to the brook.

We really enjoyed our lunch at The Swan Inn. Setting is beautiful, inside and out. Real Old World charm. The walls are covered with vintage photos and prints, and our host told an interesting story about each. Our sandwiches were delicious. We tried a house-special soft drink that was also terrific. Fine place to stop for lunch in this area.

What a pleasure to be in quintessential England. Stunning setting in luxurious river facing cottage. Everyone was friendly and helpful throughout our two day wedding fest. Good food, although breakfast stopped at 9.30 which was a little early after a late night.
A very memorable time in a special place.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the separate house across the road from the Inn facing the river.

We were really disappointed in the Swan after reading such rave reviews. We visited for lunch on a hot day when most people wanted to sit in the garden but the management seemed disinterested in helping people find tables. There were very few umbrellas - surely they could afford more considering the prices charged which are very high and frankly not good value for money. The food was average - not outstanding.

We have been to some great pubs in the Cotswolds - and the Swan has the benefit of a lovely setting. However perhaps it is resting on its laurels and its regular customers rather than trying to please new guests.

A quintessentially English Pub and Inn that was absolutely darling. I traveled with a group and was extremely pleased with the service, the food, the rooms and the atmosphere of Swan Inn. We had dinner both nights and breakfast both mornings and the food couldn't have been better; nor could it have been served better. The food was so fresh and tasty and the service was great. The atmosphere was so rustic I felt that I was in a Jane Austen novel. The Inn is nestled between the River and fields holding sheep and had some beautiful walking routes. I felt very safe taking a stroll at night. The property was ruled by some adorable Bantams. It was so serene, quiet and beautiful, just what was needed after a whirlwind tour that was rather hectic. The history of this Inn is amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed learning about it. The Piggery is a beautiful room and boy, what a bathroom!!! And the soaps are fantastic. The staff at the Inn were so accommodating and Henry, the "pub dog" was an absolute joy! Would go back in a heartbeat,.

Room Tip: Any room you get has a great view. I loved the PIggery with its palatial bathroom and great view!!

We stayed a few months ago in early spring. There are tables outside the pub and across the very quiet road - these are by the river, and it's very peaceful to watch the water drifting by. The food and service in the restaurant were fantastic - the staff are really helpful and friendly. The room was lovely, with views over nearby fields. I would recommend this pub to anyone looking for a peaceful place to stay with lovely food.

Fantastic venue - excellent, very comfortable rooms, food delicious, staff could not have been more helpful. Location really good - easy to find and get to, near to other attractions and beautiful country walk from the pub. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Room Tip: We were a family group with 6 rooms - all excellent (though obviously the 'very comfy' were...
