It's the attention to detail that makes all the difference. A VERY comfortable place for your Cotswolds base. It was a cold snap in February when we stayed, but the entire hotel was as warm as toast. By all means try the local restaurants but make sure you also dine at the hotel: you won't regret it.

We were visiting Burford with our Australian friends and were looking for a very English thing to do. We stumbled across the Burford hotel, after visiting Huffkins across the road and realised it was not for us. What a wise decision! From the minute we walked in we knew we had made the right decision. We were offered the use of the the Garden room to take our tea. A wonderful room full of character and style. Beautiful comfy chairs and antique furniture with books and art work to look at.
A choice of tea was served in china tea cups and pots of tea and hot water. We all had the carrot cake which was just superb, but there were other options for the more hungry.
Service was excellent and we left alone to enjoy the surroundings and weren't made to feel rushed.
This was all at a very reasonable price, and would highly recommend this to anyone wanting something a bit special.

A beautifully traditional country hotel with all the facilities and services you'd expect of a city hotel but with the added bonus of lovely customer service. This is the second time i've stayed at Burford House and each time has been wonderful. We stayed in the Taynton room which is a good size double, with seating area, nice decor and a huge bathroom. The room overlooks a side street and has shutters to reduce some of the traffic noise, its one of the quieter rooms in the hotel, the only downside from a mobility point of view is that its accessed by a really steep, narrow staircase so not good if you have problems or a lot of luggage! The hotel itself is really welcoming and cosy, nice lounge areas, seats that you sink into and brilliant service from the owner and staff. The breakfast is really good and so are the dinners too. This hotel is perfect for a weekend away or as a romantic retreat, your well placed for exploring the cotswolds but likewise you can easily curl up with a book in the lounge or never leave your room and still have an amazing relaxing break....Excellent little hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front will hear some traffic noise, Burford is quite a busy little town and even on Sun...

A unique experience awaits you when you visit this lovely hotel, and whether you want a quiet getaway or a romantic break this must be the place! I have just returned from a quiet weekend with a friend and oh what pleasure to be able to sit and chat over a coffee or drink in the cosy lounges being looked after by attentive, friendly staff for whom nothing is too much trouble. The food is mouth-wateringly delicious and the standard never slips whether it be the excellent breakfast or the superb dinner. In fact the food is out of this world, so forget your diet!
The bedrooms, all different, are very clean, with nice extra touches that makes this place so individual. A unique hotel with extremely high standards and a must place to stay.

Far from the madding crowd but on the main street. Sink into comfortable chairs and sofas in front of the log burners and let the splendid breakfast settle while reading a paper, or two.
Small hotel with attentive family staff.
Parking can be a game of hide and seek at peak times but we were ok.
Not the hotels problem, but Burford seems to be plagued with lorries intent on demolishing the ancient stone bridge at the bottom of the hill, we hope someone puts a weight restriction on the road soon and stops their access.

This lovely hotel is situated right on the busy High Street, which can be a problem for some of the rooms, especially when heavy vehicles pass early in the morning. Also, parking can be difficult at peak times. However, do not be deterred. This is an excellent place to stay, and not hugely expensive either. The owners have been here for 4 years and are trying hard, and successfully, to establish their reputation. The breakfasts are excellent: the best full English I have eaten for a long time, with the luxury of eggy bread, bubble and squeak, freshly grilled bacon and exceptional black pudding. Tea and coffee are very good. We had the special New Years' Eve menu in the evening (the New Year's Eve package is highly recommended) which consisted of seven courses, the highlight of which was the pepper crusted beef which was perfectly cooked and extremely tasty. Brunch the next morning, served between 10 and 12 had a huge range of attractive options, and the cold meats were superb. But what really distinguishes the Burford House are the characterful, quaint bedrooms. We splashed out on the Sherborne suite on the top floor and it was worth it for the huge bathroom with its large roll-top bath. The provision of Penhaligon toiletries was a generous touch. Bedlinen was impeccable: crisp cotton sheets and wonderfully soft pillows. As it was our wedding anniversary I asked for flowers in our rooms, which were just gorgeous, and not over-priced either. The Burford House deserves support: go there. And Burford is great: super shopping in a picture-postcard setting.
