“Perfect atmosphere and everything just right”
Reviewed 15 November 2010

The Lamb Inn is my idea of the quintessential English country inn, a place that I thought, until I went to the Lamb, that probably existed only in my imagination. The very old building is charming and atmospheric, with every modern comfort but avoiding any stylistic conflict between old and new. The sitting rooms with their open fires and comfortable sofas are perfection. Our bedroom was spacious and the bed very comfortable. It was lovely to have home-made flapjacks on the tea tray (and everything was topped up or replaced each day). Breakfasts and room service dinners (from the bar menu) were very good. Above all, the service was absolutely excellent in every way. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were absolutely delightful. I would recommend the Lamb to anyone, and we hope to be able to stay there again very soon.

My husband and I booked a night at the Lamb to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was an absolutely perfect stay. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was large and comfortable. The full sized Molton brown toiletries in the bathroom was a nice touch. We ate in the restaurant and the meal was excellent, as was the 'Cotswolds' breakfast the next morning. The hotel is in an ideal location for exploring the surrounding area and Burford itself is very pretty and well worth a visit.

We have been visiting The Lamb for many years. We have always enjoyed light lunches - rare roast beef sandwiches are a special favourite - sitting in the well appointed lounge area where well behaved dogs are also allowed The friendly staff always ask if our dog would like water.
When we planned our 25th Wedding celebrations an intimate dinner in the Dining Room at The Lamb turned out to be the perfect choice.
We enjoyed champagne served in the lounge whilst we studied the extensive menu, sitting in front of a roaring log fire - a welcome sight on a cold evening - before moving through to the candlelit dining room.
The food was truly excellent and was matched by friendly and efficient service.
We adjourned back to the lounge for coffee.
The whole experience has left us with very happy memories of our special anniversary.
Sadly our dog missed out on this occasion so we decided to return to The Lamb for lunch with her a few days later!

We have just returned from our mid-week break ater staying at the Lamb Inn for two nights, this included taking our Jack Russell, Bertie, with us. Overall we can say without any reservations that our expections were far exceeded by our experience. From the moment of our arrival we found all the staff extremely welcoming and friendly and were always on hand when we needed anything.

The Lamb Inn itself is a quintessential Cotswold hostelry from the old flagstone flooring to the welcoming open fireplaces. Our twin room was comfortable, spacious and clean; somrthing not always easy to find when bringing your dog. The decor was tasteful and completely in context with the age and type of establishment.

The food was excellent and was worth a visit in itself. We were also offered small tasters of other dishes, which was a particularly nice touch.

In summary, this was easily one of the best place we have stayed at in the Cotswolds and would have no hesitation in recommending to our friends. We will certainly be considering a return visit in the near future.

Arrived early at hotel expecting to drop bags and was told our room was ready. Our room was fine, probably one of the smaller bedrooms in the hotel, it was clean, fully kitted out and comfortable. Hotel is ideally located for the High Street, which is a two minute walk away. From the moment we entered all the staff we dealt with were excellent. They were more than accommodating to the changes we requested over our dinner arrangements and I would say went out of their way to make us feel welcome and valued. We sat in disbelief as we heard one customer come down to complain that she had to change rooms because she couldn't possible sleep in a room with such "busy" wallpaper! The member of staff dealing with her handled it brilliantly and showed the customer another room (perhaps less chintzy?!) which she was more than happy with. The excellent level of customer service we received changed this hotel from being good to great.

We went here to relax for a night after our wedding and found it friendly and comfortable. We got a great value Sunday offer which included lunch. The lunch itself was a bit disapointing but everything else was lovely.

very nice little hotel, cosy and perfect for a relaxing weekend away from london. very large rooms, clean and with all necessary facilities. as good as a stay in a luxury hotel but in a in informal, friendly environment. Very nice decor both in rooms and lobby, + lovely little garden. located in the village, but not on the main road which makes it very quiet.
Particularly impressed by the restaurant, really top quality, serving refined but unpretentious food, typical country style food revisited with a modern twist.
Overall a great stay perfect to relax in a pleasant and friendly environment.
