“Bright and cheerful refurbishment at top Travelodge”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

The location, in one of England's most beautiful towns, needs no recommendation. Burford Travelodge was always a very pleasant place to stay, but the recent refurbishment has made it even better. As always, the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The Reception area seems brighter and more spacious. The rooms themselves have undergone a fantastic facelift. The décor is fresher and the bathroom seems more streamlined. The best thing is the new bed. There are four soft pillows, a luxurious duvet and a very comfortable mattress, all of which make for a superb night's sleep. There's now room to tuck bags/cases underneath, as well. TV, drinks facilities, shower are all excellent. Everywhere is clean and rooms are unobtrusively changed and tidied throughout a longer stay. So, all in all, the perfect place to return to after visiting the wonderful town and surrounding countryside. I'm well acquainted with Travelodges and this one takes some beating! First class!

What a difference the refurbishment has made to this Travelodge. The usual friendly helpful reception staff
.Rooms well decorated beds comfortable although rooms get a bit warm at night..

Ideal relatively inexpensive if booked in advance.
Within walking distance of the town-down the hill OK going down but a bit of a climb back up although plenty of bench seating to ease the legs.j

I have stayed at many Travelodges over the years (this one 4 times) and, I must give praise where praise is due, Burford is the best one I have experienced. Even more so this time as it has recently undergone a refurbishment with new décor, linen, pillows and, if I'm not mistaken, shower.
Because it is set back off of an A road, unlike many that are right on the motorways, we have never experience any problem with traffic noise. I'm don't know if we have just been lucky but the clientele at Burford have been really quiet and respectful of others, too!
The location is perfect - right on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds. The pretty village of Burford itself is just a 10 minute stroll away with a huge selection of restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops and a great deli.
On this trip I called ahead to request that our family room be upstairs as sometimes, in a Travelodge, you can get heavy footed people above you so I do this just as a precaution. My call was answered by Bridget who was SO pleasant and friendly and only to happy to meet our request. Bridget was still on duty later when we arrived and she continued to be welcoming, cheerful, chatty, helpful and personable.
We were placed in room 30, upstairs as requested, and it was a really lovely spacious room. There was a double bed under which was stored two single beds. One was already made up for our daughter and it was a good solid bed with legs - not one of the roll-out floor level types. There would have been plenty of room if we had been a family of four & wanted the other bed up as well. The room was spotlessly clean as were the linen, towels and bathroom. It stayed that way throughout our 3 night stay with a good standard of daily cleaning and replenishing of refreshments (how they do it at that price is incomprehensible but long may it continue!).
My one and only minor comment would be that the room got very warm so don't take more than a little t-shirt to sleep in or you'll wake up sweating.
As Travelodge customers know, they are not 'luxury' rooms but extremely good value for money (we managed to secure this room for 3 of us, for 3 nights at £15 per night - what a bargain!).
In all, over our 3 night stay, we met four receptionists - all of whom were extremely polite, friendly and cheerful but I have to say that Bridget & Jenny were absolutely delightful. Just the sort of people that should be in a front line, customer service type of position.
So Burford sets the bar high for other Travelodges to compete with. Top marks Burford!

Room Tip: If you are booking a family room - phone ahead and request room number 30.
