“A gem of a find”

We stayed for two nights in a beautiful room. Food in the restaurant was lovely and the staff were friendly. Beware - the room we stayed in has a low ceiling and for someone who is over 6 feet like me, it was a challenge! That aside, whilst the room was on the small side, it was beautiful.

We chose this Inn because of its location in the Cotswolds so as we were able to visit Blenheim Palace and the surrounding villages of Witney, Woodstock and Burford. We were welcomed upon arrival and our room was ready right away. The staff were all very friendly and professional and nothing was too much for them. Breakfast was very good quality and ingredients were both fresh and local. Evening menu for food was excellent to with pigs head terrine starters, which was fabulous along with pan fried skate and also pan fried plaice. There was also wild boar burger, all of which we tried. The portions might be a little on the small side but the quality and taste was excellent. The bar staff and cleaner were very friendly and made you feel at home right from the start, which was good being as the other guest never even spoke to anyone, which was strange.

Room Tip: There are only 6 rooms in this Inn so take your pick because all are excellent

Last minute booking at the Maytime Inn. Lovely welcome and we stayed in the Hunting Room. Beautifully decorated and what a massive bed. Clean, tidy and bathroom lovely. the only thing missing from the room was a box of hankies. We ate evening meal in the restaurant and could not fault in any way. Breakfast was good but could offer a better selection of fruit and cereals. English breakfast was good and freshly prepared however toast was very thick, hard and crispy for my liking. Very friendly and we would definitely go back when we are in the area again.

Chose to stop off at the Maytime on route to Legoland based on previous positive reviews..
After a quick jaunt down a country lane we were greeted by a welcoming sight.

Loved the whole look and furnishings of the place, we were shown to our room 'The Hunting Room' and although not the biggest room I've been in, well laid out, clean and contemporary.

The only thing which was disappointing to us that after a long journey and ready for a good meal and bottle of wine, the menu, we found was a little 'out there' and not all that accommodating for family clientele...

A little begrudgingly, we drove to a nearby village to have dinner and returned for a nightcap on the outside terrace.

Breakfast the next morning was freshly cooked, I loved the 'perfect tea timer, and milk served in little milk bottles, the pastries went down well with our 7yr old!

Summed up, great place but a few changes to the menu and the place could be glorious!

My son and his girlfriend recommended that we try The Maytime, after having been there many many years ago. We ate there last night, so glad we took his advice. The restaurant/ pub looks lovely, the food was delicious, with quite a varied, but not ordinary menu - though this does not mean a strange menu - it was good food, well cooked and presented, and the service throughout was excellent. Priced very reasonably, it is somewhere we shall return to. It will be interesting to see how The Wild Rabbit in Kingham compares, as we are eating there tonight.....

We stayed here for a single night while at a wedding, despite arriving too early to check in the staff offered us the use of another room to get changed. Overall the customer service was far beyond anything I've previously experienced in a British hotel.

As I only ate breakfast which was excellent (good quality bacon & sausage (but only one rasher)) I can't comment on the food but the beer was well kept.

If I had one complaint it would be that in the middle of a very hot summer the room was rather warm, but this is to be expected as it was 30c.

We recently stayed at this pub/restaurant with rooms with another couple of friends as we were visiting the CLA Game Fair at Blenheim Palace. It is situated in a very pretty little village which is quite hidden away and very peaceful. The Maytime is beautifully decorated and furnished, as are the rooms we stayed in and the public areas are light and airy. The only reason I have given four stars instead of five is that both our rooms (The Hunting Room and The Sadlers Room) have windows facing on to the courtyard terrace so that you are rather at the mercy of your fellow guests if you want an early night but they wish to stay up late drinking/talking in the Courtyard and therefore these rooms were quite noisy. The beds were extremely comfortable with luxurious Egyptian cotton linen. The shower was a large walk-in cubicle with really good water pressure. A very thoughtful provision of a little thermos flask of fresh milk was greatly appreciated - can't stand tea with UHT milk or, worse, coffee whitener! We had dinner and breakfast which were both excellent and the food and wine was fairly priced. The serving staff overall were very young but service was excellent - efficient and polite. The new general manager who has apparently only been there for a couple of weeks was charming. We were pleased to find there is a substantial car park as looking at the online photos we weren't sure whether there would be. The Maytime is a great base for exploring the Cotswolds and surrounding areas and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: Choose rooms that don't have windows opening on to the courtyard terrace - can be quite noisy.
