“Lovely town to visit for afternoon tea”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

Easy driving range from Chipping Campden. Better shops than in touristy Stratford-upon-Avon, charming village, historic, Huffkins for afternoon tea was great.

“Very chic!”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

What a lovely row of shops, selling oldie worldie things last baskets of all the sizes you could imagine and antiques shops that are worth a walk round. We saw some lovely things and enjoyed a tea cream there!

“Gateway to the Cotswolds”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Do take the time to stop off here. It is very pretty, the people are friendly and it has lots of interesting shops. Best of all the parking is free !!!

Unfortunately it suffers from a traffic crowded high street and would benefit from a by pass.

“Council abdicates responsibility for architectural gem”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

Very few places in Britain have avoided the attention of post war planners and builders and fewer still, the structures of the Victorian era. Burford in Oxfordshire is one such rarity, an almost complete pre-industrial small town so what has Oxfordshire County Council done to preserve this marvel? They have allowed the High Street to become a major road link from the A40 to the Cotswolds not just for commuter traffic but HGV's as well. Imagine 44 ton, 6 axle trucks trundling along one of the finest street scenes in Britain! It is quite extraordinary and then the situation is made worse by the ancient bridge over the River Windrush having to be traffic-light controlled as the bridge cannot take two way traffic. There is no provision for pedestrians and cyclists on this dangerous bridge but the traffic is so slow that one can walk over at the same speed.
Go and visit Burford and wonder at our strange propensity to let traffic rule and ruin all before it.

“Beautiful town”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

There are lots of lovely pubs & tea rooms to try & some interesting small shops to wander around. I would imagine parking could be a pain in the height of the season.
