We stayed here on a Groupon Deal; The hotel is in an ideal spot, right in the centre of the pretty town. There was a car park at the rear of the property but only big enough for 5 cars so you have to be quick to get parked. There is a public car park round the corner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room with a four poster bed and a large bathroom. Only problem, on the first night, there was no hot water at all. I mentioned this when we went to the restaurant and was told they had just had the engineer in to fix the water heater. The next night we couldn't control the water temp. on the shower, it was boiling hot or stone cold. We just gave up and had a shallow bath. I do think this hotel would be better if they got the plumbing sorted out. Apart from the parking and the plumbing, it was a great stay.

We stayed here in February and had a nice time. We also stayed on Groupon deal and therefore felt that we had value for money. That said if we had paid £89 per night for the room we were in we would have been extremely disapponted, however we understand that some rooms have been refurbshed. I'll start with the minus points. In the bedroom there were lightbulbs that were not working, a table lamp was situated on a table with no powerpoint. WI-FI very weak in bedroom, decor really poor. Bathroom, curtain no good had hang a towel, hot water and heating not working properly (mentioned this when we checked out and were told there had been a problem).

On the plus side the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was very good value for money and the Inn is situated on high street in the middle of Burford. Yes there is adog in the pub but vicious it is not. If you don't want to see animals don't go to the Cotswiolds stay in your large towns and cities.

Would we go again, yes we would but not at any price!!

We were concerned about our booking at Golden Pheasant after reading the reviews before we left for our stay. If you don 't like dogs don't go because they are in reception when you arrive and it does smell a bit doggy, but the staff are very welcoming and helped my husband up to our room with our bags. If you are a light sleepier ask for a back room none where available so we didn't get much sleep as the traffic goes on through the night, but that is same where ever you stay in Burford as it has one main road in and out, and yes it really does need updating but is clean. The food is great in fact the best we had in our stay in the Cotswolds and the bar and resturant area is lovely with new candels each night. The owner is friendly and asked each day if we had enjoyed our day, ok he may need to look at how he runs a hotel but we have stayed at far worse. It is only a two star and you get what you would expect at a two star hotel, if you are wanting more than book a three or four star hotel.

Room Tip: Not looking over the high street

We stayed at the Golden Pheasant for a 2 night break to go walking in the Cotswolds. The location is ideal for this - spoilt for choice of places to go. The staff at the hotel made us welcome with just the right amount of attention and gave us directions to the car park hidden around the back. ( Smallish but no problems parking and fellow guests were happy to move their car to allow us to get out when we were setting off for a day out earlier than they were.) Our room was lovely - all beams and uneven floors - and had a view out onto the main street. The only slight disadvantage was some traffic noise but then as we live in a small, quiet village I probably noticed it more than most people would. My husband was completely oblivious to it ! We ate in the hotel on our second night and thoroughly enjoyed our meal - surroundings and service excellent. We would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: If traffic noise is an isue ask for a room at the back.If not, front rooms benefit from lots of afte...

Situated on the main road thro Burford, we were welcomed by a really nice young guy who booked us in and showed us to our room with the minimum of fuss but with all the attention needed. The room was a decent size and very clean, but the pillows are awful ... take your own. We didn't eat in the hotel apart from breakfast which was very good quality but a bit on the small side ... one sausage, one rasher of bacon, one egg, one mushroom, half a tomato and a spoonful of beans, and only one slice of toast with no offer of any more or any other choices. Having said that there were cereals and orange juice, tea or coffee. The bar is a lovely place to sit and unwind with a drink and watch the world go by after a busy day sightseeing. We were on a KGB deal which was very good value, but if we had paid the full price, we would have been very, very disappointed.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front of the hotel would be noisy because of the main road.

We found all the staff very helpful and friendly as my wife is disabled. The food in the restaurant was excellent and cooked to order. We had the four poster room which was excellent, very cmfortable. The hotel is ideally situated for touring round the Cotswolds. This was our first visit to bothe the area and the hotel, and we will certainly be back to both. I would not hesitate to recomend the Golden Pheasant.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel where there was not traffic noise.

We have just returned from a very pleasant two night break (with Groupon) at the Golden Pheasant Hotel. We stayed in Jay room at the side/back of hotel which was extremely quiet, the room was more than adequate, very clean with a delightful en-suite. The owners were most pleasant as were their dogs and we enjoyed the food, breakfast and dinner.
