“Don't bother”
Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

Cramped, dark, uncomfortable, extremely poor service. Why bother when there are many other
eateries close by.

“This is a proper pub! Hooray”
Reviewed 19 May 2014

This was our second lunchtime visit to this delightful, stuck-in-a-timewarp pub. The interior probably hasn't changed since Oliver Cromwell - except they have electricity! Bare floorboards, eclectic tables, lovely log fires AND friendly helpful staff and good food. Oh, and get someone else to drive you there because the beers are exceptional.
There's a good menu of different dishes - the "butchers board", comprising wonderful roast beef, scotch egg, pork pie, onion jam and salad is wonderful (for a bloke!) There's plenty of choice for everyone and children are welcome too.
Great Tew is a lovely Cotswold village, so all in all, the Falkland is well worth a visit.

“Excellent food & service”
Reviewed 26 April 2014 via mobile

Dropped in for lunch today. Very busy and they were doing their best to keep up. When our order was slightly delayed, the staff were very aware and attentive, bringing us complimentary nibbles and apologising for the wait. The meal was cooked beautifully (pan fried duck) and prawn & gravadlax salad. On settling up, the manager insisted on reducing the bill. Thank you for a wonderful lunch chaps (and chapesses) - little touches like that set you apart from the rest!

“Historical charming Cotswolds pub”
Reviewed 22 April 2014

What a fantastic place to eat and drink. We stumbled upon this pub by chance and so glad we did. The ambience with the log fire and 16th century charm was hard to beat having holidayed in the Cotswolds many times. We have two small children and have found that some restaurants and tea rooms will not always welcome us, however the staff were so friendly here and couldn't do enough for us. We had the best night out for a long time and that was all thanks to the helpful staff and fantastic atmosphere of this unique pub.

We had the wild mushroom risotto and steak and ale pie, both lovely dishes. The children were granted exactly what they wanted even though it was not on the menu. The brownie, sticky toffee pud both lovely desserts. Great choice of ales and wines. Can't recommend highly enough. You won't be disappointed.
