Think this place must have been lovely in its time and if you are from teh US of A you may even call it quaint. Had a four poster bed in our room which initially got an oooo and and ahhhh - but it was very uncomfortable and creaked a liitle too much! Staff were freindly enough but rooms were cold and we were told we had to wait to 6pm for the heating to come on - really .... in November!!! had to put a portable heater on for a while to warm up.

Lastly breakfast was really nice but let down by teh beans - this may seem unimportaant but cheap beans dont cut the mustard!!

We'd booked a couple of nights stay and found the staff friendly and very helpful. The bar and restaurant were very comfortable and the food of a high standard. The rooms were clean and the service good. I wished we had stayed longer as not all the facilities were used and I would have welcomed more relaxing eating and drinking in the bar by the lovely lit fireplace. The town of Chipping Norton is charming and very accessible as soon as you step outside the hotel. Sight heating issue the first night but this was soon resolved. Parking was a little difficult to find upon arrival and turned out to be via a narrow entrance at the back of the hotel. The second night's parking was problematic as a wedding reception (I think) was held at the hotel, however we easily found a parking space directly outside the front of the hotel in the town square. All in all a very pleasant, comfortable and relaxing break.

Room Tip: Possibly quieter towards back of hotel

We are surprised that people have has a bad experience or choose to write negative review about this place. We were apprehensive upon our booking but totally satisfied with what we found upon our arrival.
A warm welcome, nice bar, a good clean serviced room and literally nothing to complaint about. However we did not know that on this occasion the restaurant was close (Sunday night) and might be worth checking before booking next time.

Was on a business trip and decided to book here as was in close proximity to the meeting. The cost of the room was very reasonable so was not expecting much. When we checked in we were given a key to our rooms and the TV remote controls? Don't know why and didn't ask. On the way to our rooms noticed there was no heating in the corridors and was dreading how cold the room was going to be. As it transpired there was no cause for alarm and the room was pleasant, warm and the TV also worked. In the bathroom there was an old fashioned roll top bath with a shower attachment. There was no shower screen or curtain so you basically had to sit in the bath to take a shower? Plenty of clean towels and toiletries supplied. Rang front desk for an iron and this was delivered in under five minutes.
Had a few drinks in the bar in the evening and this was pleasant. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a good selection of hot an cold food. Only had toast and cereal so can't comment on the quality of the hot food. Great choice if you're looking for no frills accommodation at a reasonable price.
