Back in this really villagey pub last night for delicious plaice with samphire and potatoes and a beautifully balanced balsamic sauce, followed by a Baileys and chocolate cheesecake that DID taste of Baileys. Memorable! What's extra nice about the Plough is that it is typically a village pub. Yes, it has an excellent (and small restaurant) and a talented young chef, but you'll also get a feel of what else goes on in this charming little village. Music perhaps, mummers or the morris, a song at the piano, a quiz night. I've never known the hunt turn up outside, but being a country pub, I suppose it just might. This is what it's like out here, and it's part of the pleasure of it. We're lucky that The Plough contributes so much to life in this part of the Evenlode Valley. (And despite the TripAdvisor listing, it's NOT in Chipping Norton, it's in Finstock, which is couple of miles south of Charlbury off the Witney road.)
