“Most pleasant cottage which we were ever accommodated.”
Reviewed 4 November 2017 for a stay in August 2017

The Cottage is situated in a very quit rural area. Only a stone's throw to lovely Henley-on-Thames. Rose Lodge is very clean and well equiped. We missed nothing. Our 7 years old son loved the sofa bed in the living room. We enjoyed the view into the lovey designed and cultivated garden. The Herb Farm in Sonning Common as well as Grey´s Court (N.T.) are worth a visit. Clare and Malcolm are caring hosts who made our stay most enjoyable, so we decided to plan the next visit in spring 2018. Once again, thank you very much for your hospitality!

“Pure English Countryside Bliss”

We traveled from Calgary in Canada to stay at two rental properties. This was our second week in the UK. The first was a property in Bracknell and the second was Rose Lodge in Crowsley.

As there were just two of us, the size was just right. We loved the standard of the interior finishing to this property. Quality was everywhere. I knew when we booked that the kitchen had a microwave and some kind of cooktop. In our first rental place, we had a full kitchen stove with oven and gas cooktop (hob for UK folks). However, I was so happy to discover that the microwave oven was also, a convection oven. All those incredible easy to cool meals from Waitress, Sainsbury's etc. could be heated perfectly in the convection mode of this oven and, the induction hob was super fast and easy to use (must get one of my own one day).

The kitchen was well equipped and has a nice Bosch fridge - although no freezer compartment - so if ice is your thing, then just keep the gin or vodka in the fridge.

Bathroom is very modern and I was impressed with the shower. The pressure is great and water is nice and hot. Being from Canada, I struggled a bit with the size of the shower dimensions as they feel a bit small to me but, nonetheless, it was a very good shower.

Internet is available and comes from the main cottage that this property is adjacent to. It worked very well. Handy to plan trips each day. The little lounge has a TV and plenty of channels.

The lodge has a comfy bed and due to the location, it is so quiet at night. We slept really well there.

There is a sitting area outside surrounded by all kinds of flowers and shrubs. All you can hear are horses and the calls of the Red Kites nearby. Very calming.

One thing to note, the property has no shampoo or shower gel dispenser and so you need to bring that stuff with you. Other places we stayed at always provided those things - lucky for us we had just come back from Las Vegas and had some shampoo from there.

If you haven't been to England before, you need to be aware that this property is accessed by very narrow single track lanes. Drive slow and cautiously until you get used to it.

All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

What a lovely place to get away from it all, Clare and Malcome greeted us and they are very friendly and helpful, the cottage has everything you need with a lovely private patio area, it was comfortable and cosy and we will definatley be going back for another break, the surrounding area is lovely for walks and one of the walks take you straight into a back garden of the local pub, Bird in the Hand.

“Wonderful location superb accommodation”
Reviewed 20 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

My mother and I had a wonderful stay at Rose Lodge and we were very warmly greeted by Clare and Malcom. We had everything that we required, the lodge is very well appointed and extremely clean and set in lovely surroundings. Clare and Malcom were extremely helpful and very kindly provided a higher chair to make it easier for my mother, as she has difficulty in standing and sitting down, which was so very kind and very much appreciated. The Lodge is ideally situated for visiting the River Thames and nearby National Trust properties and also for lovely walks. The Butchers Arms in Sonning Common also does some very nice meals. My mother and I had a very relaxing 4 night stay in beautiful relaxing surroundings. We will certainly be returning. Thank you Clare and Malcom.

“Ideal place for a short break”
Reviewed 1 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Very clean and comfortable accommodation in a beautiful setting. Ideal for my mother who has restricted mobility. Enjoyed the spring flowers in the area especially the bluebells which appeared to be in every wood. Were able to visit some nearby National Trust properties as well as Henley on Thames and saw Red Kites every day.

“A pleasent stay in rural cottage”
Reviewed 13 November 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We stayed for 5 days in Rose cottage. The place was nice, well laid out, clean and equipped with all nessecary (includet a torch for the walk to the pub). The owner lives next door, but we had a separate area. The pub was close with a pittoresk walk through the horse field.
There is a parking place and a car with GPS is recommented as the place in the countryside and a bit hard to find (The ownes sends a map before arrival and good the same).
We had a good time there and consider returning in a year or two. It is in the Midsummer area and the landscape is fantastic.
