“Love Milsoms and Loch Fyne fishy breakfast”
Reviewed 30 May 2011

Milsoms are reliable! Above average, good quality and stylish. A great location and very good value. Breakfast is amazing, particularly the lovely coffee. Very happy to return and pleased to recommend to my friends. Thanks Milsoms!

Room Tip: Room 2 was huge and totally comfy.

The Milsoms Hotel in Henly on Thames is a small friendly hotel with just 7 rooms above the Loch Fyne Restaurant which is right in the centre of town & just a few minutes walk from the River. We only booked this hotel the night before & paid £75 (standard rate) which included breakfast & parking! I've known hotels charge £25 for overnight parking alone.. so this was fantastic. The carpark only has space for about 8 cars we got in no problem but a staff member had to move his car so we could get out. We stayed in Room 3 which overlooks the small restaurant courtyard, it was a very spacious room which was decorated lovely. Breakfast was very nice, with juice, cereal & fruit, toast and a choice of hot food cooked to order.. full english, salmon & scrambled eggs, Haddock & poached egg etc.. Henley has a good selection of bars, restaurants & shops etc.. On a nice day a picnic by the river is a must!! We visited Henley during the easter weekend & didn't have any problem with noise or waiting around for staff etc.. I can honestly say I will recommending this hotel to friends & hope to return myself one day!

Room Tip: You wont be disapointed, it's lovely!!

I have to agree with some of the other reviews and say we were very disappointed by our stay at Milsom's hotel.

On the website it all looks fantastic and we were really looking forward to it. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated - we had no faults with it at all.

However it was the service that was a let down. We checked in late and were tired from the journey but had to wait around in reception whilst some staff moved cars so that we could put our car in.

In the morning we waited so long for somebody to turn up to take a breakfast order that we had to give up. Checking out then took ages.

The staff don't seem at all interested which is such a shame as this could be a real gem of a place to stay.

A disappointingly average hotel. The staff are disinterested and the whole place smells of fish. Well, the rooms are in and above the Loch Fyne fish restaurant, so hardly surprising. Breakfast service was a joke.

We had really looked forward to our night in Henley - and were thrilled to find Milsom's on the Internet. At last - it seemed - Henley had stepped up to the plate, and were offering good value, clean, fresh accomodation. Not. Seriousy not.

I booked 6 out of the 7 rooms for guests attending my wedding in Henley. The hotel seemed ideal, located very close to the venue and reasonably priced, it was too good to be true!
2 of the rooms did not have curtains in, some of the rooms had been painted the morning of the guest stay and so the guests had to suffer gloss paint fumes, the rooms that had been painted had the windows left open probably to try and get rid of the fumes and so the rooms were very cold, the bathroom skylight of one room was propped open with a screwdriver.
The car parking that was promised was not available, one guest left his car key with the hotel as they said they would park it for him, but they did not lock it.
Breakfast was poor, the quantity and quality of the service and the food was sub standard.
The check out process was very time consuming as they did not seem to have any staff available.
I did contact Milsoms to advise them of the problems that my wedding guests experienced, while staying at their hotel, but I did not receive any form of response from them.

My other half and I stayed for one night in room seven on a Tuesday. The price was £85 for the room, including breakfast and parking, which I think is a bit of a bargain for Henley.

Room seven is on the top floor and has a vaulted ceiling and nice views of the town square. It is just the right size for two and appeared nice and clean. Having said that, it did have a very odd smell to it, a bit like stilton cheese.

I would stay again and hope the smell was a one off freak event!

this is a well priced and comfortable place to stay. Rooms are clean and modern and staff friendly and helpful. I tend to stay on the upper floors I am not sure about room 1 which is near the entrance. there is a lovely feel about the place and it is attached to Loch Fynne which serves as your breakfast venue. Service can be a bit slow in the morning but if you are in a hurry the girls will sort it.I have stayed elsewhere in Henley - pound for pound this is best value
