Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this historic site. It is steeped in history. The staff were very helpful and always ready to explain things.

We specifically sought out this college, partly for its history and the partly for the scenes used in Harry Potter movies. This is quite the place to see and its hard to explain how interesting it is, until you visit. Make sure you check the times in advance as to which portions of the premises are open to the public (because it is still a fully functioning college)

Christ Church College is one of the best known of the university. It was here in the dining hall that many scenes from the Harry Potter films were photographed. The Alice window is well worth stopping to see. The bottom of the window contains stained glass representations of many characters from Alice in Wonderland. Lewis Carroll was a pseudonym for Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, a mathmatics lecturer at the university for 26 years. It was here he wrote his now famous books and poems. The chapel of Christ church college contains the remains of St. Friswinde as well as the graves and memorials of many alumni of the school.

This was our second stop on our Oxford trip and left me speechless. It's such a beautiful place. The buildings are amazing and have such an atmosphere.

I thought £8 was reasonable and the staff were all lovely. The chap in the hall had some great stories and pointed out some pictures we may otherwise have missed.

It was fairly quiet when we arrived and looked around the cathedral, but we did have to queue behind a large party for the hall. However, we dawdled round looking at all the portraits and by the time we got round it was much quieter.

There was a choir singing in the cathedral which was an added treat.

The gallery was also worth a look.

The building is amazing, the great hall very impressive, don't forget to look for the Alice window in the hall, the cathedral full of history, you don't have to be an academic to appreciate this marvellous building and grounds, we did not dislike a thing. A ticket gets you in and out all day so come and go as you please, the hall is used for students to dine in so may be closed for a coupe of hours.
