We stayed for 2 nights on a last minute booking. Hotel was clean, comfortable with soft squishy bed and pillows. Our room overlooked the courtyard which was very pleasant, especially if you like Jazz on a Sunday evening (we don't, but that didn't spoil or stay at all). Would definitely visit here again.

The only downside was actually locating the car park. We had to contact the hotel to ask for directions, even our sat nav tried to take us down streets without accessibility.

Hotel is in a brilliant location within minutes walking distance of most amenities. Would recommend a visit to Christ Church college and cathedral on an overcast morning.

We stayed here for one night during a weekend break to Oxford. The hotel met our expectations and we couldn't fault the cleanliness, amenities or friendly staff and the location in central Oxford was perfect. The room was a reasonable size for a city centre hotel and it was fairly quiet too. The decor was maybe a little drab for our tastes (olive grey paintwork) but at least it was all clean and tidy. One warning though - if you stay in a top-floor room like we did then mind your head! Our room had a sloping ceiling and I managed to crack my head on the ceiling when I stepped backwards in the shower over the bath. Probably my own fault but there weren't any signs up to remind you. We opted to eat breakfast in a Patisserie just up the road rather than spend the extra on the hotel breakfast, and I'm glad we did as they did some very nice croissants for much less than the hotel were charging (which was about £12 each for a continental buffet).
One other thing to note in case you don't know Oxford: it has the worst traffic system I have ever come across and you will get lost! Even with the help of a sat-nav it was quite difficult, part of this was due to roadworks in the centre at the time of our visit, but mostly it was down to the bus-only routes. The hotel does have a small car park at the rear of the hotel and you have to navigate the back steets to find it. We opted to stop in a bus stop at the front of the hotel and ask at reception for directions.

I stayed here with friends in August and had a great time! Staff were extremely helpful and efficient, from booking taxis to suggesting places to visit in the area. They couldn't do enough to help us. The rooms are lovely - small but very nice. Bathrooms are stylish and spotless. Lovely comfy beds and fluffy towels and crisp sheets.

The service at Quod restaurant was consistently slow and surly and the food was nothing to shout about. We had dinner, two breakfasts and afternoon tea there over a weekend and were amazed at the bad attitude of the staff. One member of bar staff was great but the rest were moody and unhelpful.

This hotel is great! It's a bit pricey but it's worth it. We had one of the smallest rooms (room 6) but it had everthing we could ask for. The bed was soooo comfortable. The hotel is situated right in the heart of Oxford, really close to the shops, restaurants and colleges. It has a great restaurant attached and a secure car park round the back.
I would definitely return to this hotel.

Great hotel right in the center of Oxford. Best location, walk to everything. They have their own free car park-a must for the center of Oxford. The service was exceptional. We stayed in room 41, on the top floor, looking out on the street with views over the tops of the buildings of Oxford. This was a standard room- beautifully furnished and large by Uk standards. The bath had both a tub and shower enclosure. The bed was extremely comfortable. The Quod restaurant in the hotel was excellent- brasserie style with moderate prices, and a lovely setting. Indoor and outdoor dining was available. This is certainly not your typical overpriced, uninteresting hotel eatery. There is excellent artwork though out the hotel. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at in the UK. Great location, style, service, food, rooms. Try the Rose Tea House down the street- best scones we have had in UK.

Stayed a weekend at the end of June. The central location (it is plumb in the centre not within 10-15 mins walk as a previous reviewer stated) and the free car park were big selling points. Reception and all other staff were charming, keen and most helpful. Quod Brasserie has a great buzz with folk popping in all day; judging by the clientele it is very family friendly. There is no booking but as promised the Maitre D' does ensure you don't have to wait. It doesn't pretend to offer great cuisine but good bistro fare at reasonable prices - and succeeds well. Breakfasts were excellent with good fresh juice and fruit, and the best coffee (Monmouth we were told) we have had anywhere. In the fine weather it was a real bonus to eat these out on the smart rear terrace.

We paid £210 a night (yes!) for one of the standard rooms at the back. These all looked a similar size. There were no offers when we phoned. The room, though stylish, with air con (needed) and a good sized bathroom, was a real disappointment because of its very small size. To make it worse, there was just one small cupboard to hang clothes in. This also housed the fridge, and a few small shelves round the corner which were virtually inaccessible. One of us had to live out of a suitcase for the weekend. Not good enough. We worried that there would be noise from the terrace at night but they manage this well, and by 11pm (possibly earlier) it is not used so that was fine. However - not Old Bank's fault - neighbouring Oriel College had their Commem Ball our first night and our sleep was disturbed. Just our luck: it only happens once a year at most.

Breakfast was not included which given the room price was poor value. But if you can live with that, or better still can afford to book a bigger room, it is a lovely hotel in a beautiful city with few other hotels at its centre. I guess the owners (who also run The Old Parsonage) know this and price accordingly. A shame, as the hotel gets most things right.

I stayed here with my partner in May. We were very impressed with the service and found staff always happy to help. The room (10), whilst tired in places, was spacious and well appointed. Despite overlooking the High Street, it was quiet and we were very pleased with the view. The food was very good indeed, and the resident duck was a wonderful distraction in the relaxing and refined courtyard dining area. Parking at the rear is incredibly handy, although I wouldn't have wanted to bring a larger car! We had a wonderful weekend in Oxford and this hotel played no small part in making it special. I will certainly return.
