I didn't stay in the hotel so my review does not reflect that aspect. I went to the Hawkwell for a christmas meal with work colleagues. The food in the Iffley Blue restaurant was of a very high standard; flavoursome, plentiful and well prepared. I'm looking forward to returning with family in the New Year for a similar experience!

We stayed at Hawkwell House for two nights in early December for a pre-Christmas/Birthday visit to Highclere Castle.

The Hotel staff were excellent, the room was very spacious with everything you would expect of a good hotel (except for a mini fridge). There was even a pleasant view and although there were several large parties in the hotel over that weekend there was no noise at all in the hotel or from the car park.

There are a couple of lounge areas which were very quiet to relax in after a busy day sight-seeing in Oxford. The food was good in the evenings but the breakfast could have been better. The Hotel was very convenient for the buses into Oxford so we didn’t need to use the car during our stay.

When next in Oxford we would definitely stay again.

This place was easy to get to and was just out of the cbd so we needed to get a bus into town which was caught a few hundred meters down the road. The rooms were nice and staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was included and was quite nice with plenty of choice.
We got it last minute and was very cheap so great value for money for us.
Would definitely use again.

I had to make a 6 day trip to Oxford at the last minute and hotel rooms in the center of the city were hard to find. I booked 5 nights at the Mercure Eastgate but had to move to the Hawkwell House for one night in the middle of my stay due to lack of availablity at Eastgate.

This is a nice hotel with comfortable beds. The included breakfast is great if you are a big meat, cream and cheese eater and not concerned with your fat and calorie intakes. However, I am a vegetarian and there really was not much I could eat besides tea and toast.

The other thing to realize is that this hotel is in a residential area so you must take a 10-12 minute 7 GBP ride to go into the city.

If this location is where you need to be, it is a great place to stay. However, if you are visiting Oxford, I really would try to stay in a hotel that is closer to the center of action.

My Wife and I attended a Christmas party and it went like a charm, from the moment of our arrival the hotel staff were attentive and friendly. Normally food at Christmas events is very mediocre but that label could not be associated with this hotel, everything ran like clockwork. The room was very well appointed, spotless and extremely comfortable.
Breakfast was a delight, freshly cooked and served with efficiency and humour, All staff, service and delivery was exceptional, Well done Hawkswell House, we'll definately be back.

I stayed here on business and have to say what a find. The staff were friendly and could not do enough for you, the rooms are ultra clean and have all modern fittings whilst also being well appointed. Really well placed in a lovely quiet village location with the added advantage of being just outside of Oxford so you can have the best of both worlds.

Second year of the better half's works Christmas dinner being held here. It felt much improved from last year. The rooms were modern, clean and spacious and the beds very comfy. The food was from the set menu and was respectable without being particularly inventive or original, the service was much better than last year and the staff were efficient and friendly. I don't think I would choose to stay here for leisure purposes, it feels a little bit souless, but as a venue for an event or a night or two on business I am sure it does the job perfectly well!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms seemed more modern than those on the second floor
