This hotel is in a great location for exploring Oxford by foot as it is very central.
Check in was fairly efficient and the staff were courteous throughout the hotel. The breakfasts were decent, although we did have breakfast delivered one morning and a couple of items were missing. The hotel has a nice comfortable lounge/bar area which is great for relaxing.
Our room was on the top floor and I definitely agree with other posters that it was in need of a refurbishment. The furniture was a bit shabby in places and parts of the bathroom were so old that it would be impossible to clean properly. The bathroom had a bath/shower combo and disappointingly there was nowhere to clip the shower head onto, probably due to the slope of the roof, so you only had one hand free when showering, even a low-level clip would have been better than none.
One thing to note - the hotel entrance is actually on Merton Street, a side street off High Street. We arrived by car at night and we found the hotel difficult to locate due to poor signage. Look out for The High Table restaurant if you get stuck (part of the hotel).More
