“One of the best”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

The Ashmolean must surely be amongst one of the best museums of it's genre outside of London. Superbly laid out exhibits, in many rooms over many floors, you would need several visits to do it justice. One not to miss.

“a night at the museum”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We spent a lovely evening at the Ashmolean in Oxford during a night at the museum. We made wands and with the children and saw a great flamenco show. The only drawback was that it was very very crowded. However would go again as there was a great atmosphere.

“Special, amazing experience....”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

We had the special privilege of having a private tour of the Museum followed by a private birthday lunch in one of the galleries.

The tour was stunningly good. The Volunteer guides are humorous, knowledgeable and delightfully charming. Just the right touch. Not too much information ...but enough to keep you eager and interested. The exhibits are set out stunningly, well lit and well spaced. The tour was a tour de force...

As was the lunch...The food was served with meticulous attention. The long tables in the gallery looked amazing. Considering the number being served...I guess about 100 were at this private party, the food was hot, delicious and just a poin...

The whole experience was memorable... what a way to celebrate a birthday...stunning.

I am reliably informed that this is the kind of event that the Ashmolean is now offering when the Museum is closed on a Monday...how wonderful... and what a privilege....an unforgettable lunch.

“Very good museum”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

This museum is clear and large, and contains a lot. Visiting it in one day is probably not enough if you like it. Fortunatly this is a free entrance museum, except for temporary exhibitions.
Talking about temporary exhibitions, there are many, and top quality, such as the current "Cesanne and the Modern" - on show until June the 22nd.

If you are visiting Oxford, easy to pop in, even for a short time. It is just a minute away from the city center.

Reviewed 28 May 2014

Excellent wheelchair access but only one lift (with a mind of its own!!).
Superb show of Cezanne's works not seen in this country before.
