It is excellent for its location, its services cafeteria, breakfast, room with its clean kitchenette equipment, its personal. I would not want to go, but I have to. I think I'm going to miss the place.

Here's what was good - rather new and clean. Location was fine not exceptionally good or bad.
Here's what we didn't like so u can decide for yourself
1) Decor - think English meets Asian meets Dutch meets modern - a visual mess
2) Room size vs. cost- was told we had a junior suite/triple. What we really got was a small double that they jammed a cot into and charged us for a triple. So small we couldn't move - and we had just come from traveling in Paris and Amsterdam. This was like a tight closet. Also was an attic room level with no was to cool room without leaving windows open - it was only 50 degrees F/10C - can't imagine in summer months.
3) Noise- with or without window open was noisy - room was on street side. Due to attic location and no way to cool room had to sleep (or try to sleep) with window open
4) Quality of workmanship - everything was just cheaply done
5) Beds and pillows - so uncomfortable. Our double bed was three different thin mattresses piled on top of one another - with the bottom being twins, so all night they would keep separating
6) Bathrooms - I'm a size 6 and 5'6" and could barely turn in the shower stall (no tub). Only small thin bath towels provided - no hand towels or face cloths.
7) breakfast included - but only available from 7:30 to 9:00 even on weekends. Standard stuff.
Find another place to stay!!!

Room Tip: Don't come

This hotel is in a converted house just at the edge of Summertown - a stone's throw from several good restaurants, and within easy reach of both the city centre and the M40.

Positives - excellent bed, newly refurbished room, friendly receptionist, plenty of parking, great location, clean.

Negatives - breakfast staff seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than serving guests, hot food on buffet was not terribly hot, could do with providing one big bath towel and one hand towel per guest rather than one middle sized towel.

A very clean and efficient hotel with parking at the rear for those travelling by car. Just a few things to note. It is further out from the town centre than we would have liked, a good 30 to 40 minute walk along a busy main road although there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. No refreshments available during the day after breakfast but the shops and cafe's in Summertown are only a few minutes walk away. Breakfast is over by 9 am for guests but if you are staff you can get a hot breakfast at 9.45! A lay in on holiday is a must so make it 9.30 or better still 10am.

Apart from that it is a good place to stay and see the sights of Oxford.

I stayed here for 2 nights during a trip to Oxford for work meetings at Oxford University. I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are beautifully decorated, with a large full length mirror and heated towel railings. I had a nice quite room (perfect for working) on the first ground floor, room 11, although I could hear the persons upstairs moving around all the time. The bedding was great and breakfast delicious, with a wide variety to choose from. Beautiful dining room - too bad no dinner is served here, I would definitely have made use of it. Easy walk to city center, otherwise the bus stop is right in front of the hotel and will get you to the center for £2. Also, a Costa, Tesco and Sainsbury's are located right down the road, as well as some other restaurants.

Very cosy and clean hotel....the room was just a bit small, but the design bathroom was really nice. There is a confortable living room where in the morning it's served a great continental and full english breakfast. Last but not least, the portougese staff was very nice and friendly. I don't know about the money value because I was a guest of my company. Excellent.

I visited the Galaxie Hotel with a friend and we paid £100 each for 2 'single' rooms, albeit they each had a double bed. My room was excellent (if perhaps geared up for a male not a female as nowhere well lit to put on make up) and the hotel is great (well decorated, light and airy), and the staff are great too. However we arrived for breakfast at 8.45am and although we were offered endless refills of excellent coffee,by friendly and attentive staff, by 8.45am the cooked breakfast was extremely depleted. All that remained was a few rashers of bacon, scrambled egg, half a tomato and a sausage - not wonderful and no offer to replenish. However I would visit again and the parking is a real bonus. If only the Galaxie had a licence as a pre-dinner drink in the wonderful conservatory before going out for dinner (or a drink on returning from dinner) would make it almost perfect and would bring into use a room which is too lovely to only use for breakfast.

Room Tip: Make sure that you ask for a room away from the lift shaft and away from the arch that cars drive th...
