“A gem.”
Reviewed 21 February 2013

This is a college tucked away just off the high street. It is approached from the back on cobbled roads though parking is forbidden. Inside, the college buildings are just amazing. There are three quads, the first one being stunning in its beauty. It is only a small college and there are other more spectacular ones, but Oriel gives one a deep sense of history and one can almost see the students hundreds of years ago walking around the grounds and climbing the ancient staircases. They have won their fair share of rowing awards too - look at the painting on the walls as a record. I shall be back!

“Oriel: Simply The Best Oxford College”
Reviewed 3 February 2010

Oriel College was founded in 1326 and is simply the best college at Oxford University. College members excel in sporting, academic and social activities. This elite and beautiful college is a must see. An Orielensis.

“Quiet and compact”
Reviewed 11 December 2008

Oriel is quite small without the extensive grounds of newer colleges but has a 3 quads all with different atmosphere. The third Quad has the Rhodes building, funded by Cecil Rhodes who also endowed scholarships. Oriel has in recent years done well in rowing so there are several inscriptions around the doorways.
