We came across this gem by accident having just wondered around Oxford. There is something here for everyone, plenty of fascinating things to see and learn about.

I would recommend this museum regardless of your age, it's a fun day out!

Fantastic museum,so much to see and do.I took my 9 year old granddaughter, who loved it from the foot prints outside to bee hive inside, past stuffed birds, minerals, ammonites, the skeletons of large creatures, T rex,and so much more,so much to see will have to go back again and again.we had a wonderful lunch in the gallery, the kids dinosaur lunch box was just right and all was eaten by a happy little girl.

A great museum for younger children; less busy and much more manageable then the Natural History Museum in London which can be overwhelming in terms of size, number of exhibits and volume of visitors.

The frequency of activities for children is always good as it gives them a chance to do something rather then just listen, look and read. My son didn't even notice he was still learning!

The museum itself is a beautiful piece of Victorian architecture and the archaic mode of presesnting some of the exhibits is actually rather enjoyable and refreshing for both adults and children. It's somewhere my son will grow into more and more.

Not bad as it's all free

For a free museum, there is a lot to see. There are recreations of dinosaur skeletons and also live cockroaches.

Allow at least a half-day to have a good look around the exhibits. You’re allowed to touch some of them, such as the stuffed donkey. There was a viewing booth for the rocks that glow in the dark, excellent.

With a glass roof to the building, you do wonder whether all that sun shining in on the exhibits is doing them any good.

You can access the Pitt Rivers Museum from here without going outside. There is a reasonably priced café on the first floor of the National History area although it was very warm up there so we didn’t stay for a drink.

Excellent museum. Wonderful exhibits to touch and walk around. Not too much to take in on one day. Wonderful tea on the gallery floor.
