“One night stay”
Reviewed 16 October 2013

I stayed here at the beginning of October, when I visited Bicester Village Shopping Outlet. Overall was really pleased the room was just what we needed for 1 night, was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. We ate dinner in the hotel the restaurant serves excellent food and the hotel staff give brilliant service. After having dinner we had a couple of drinks in the hotel bar, has a good modern atmosphere and was very relaxing. Had a good nights sleep and the bed was very comfortable. Also paid to have breakfast here, it was a buffet breakfast and there was loads to choose from. I can't comment on the spa/swimming pool etc as we never used this. From reading this I have noticed many people complaining about the free WiFi I didn't find this a problem as I wasn't planning to use this anyway but I can see it being a problem if your here on business or need to access certain accounts etc.

I have no problems with this hotel- clean, comfortable, well appointed and a good location near the park and ride. But still this chain-like many in the uk- insist on charging for wi fi. Most hotels in Europe include it free, but there it's £5.00 for 1 hour. It's a rip off.

We spent one night at this hotel having booked through Booking.com as opposed to direct with the Holiday Inn. On our arrival the receptionist kept getting so confused with her words and directions that she had to keep apologising particularly when pointing to the lifts and refering to them as our room!!. Having checked in we went to our room and upon our arrival we found that the toilet door would not shut mainly because the door was too big for the frame. Now having looked at the door it was quite evident that it must have been like this for sometime and had not just occurred. When we mentioned it to the staff at reception we were thanked, informed that there were no maintenance engineers on site today. We were offered another room but as we had already unpacked we stayed where we were. Then comes the bar staff. We went to the lounge and ordered some drinks and some crisps. Service was a little slow as the staff member was new and was still trying to get to grips with the micro till. Having sorted out the drinks she then tried to find the crisps on the till, but couldn't. Therefore the duty manager was called and he found that he had the same problem. So, we were simply given them free of charge. Having then retired for a rest we went down for the evening meal and at reception we asked the staff member about the park and ride service that we were going to use the following morning. He smiled politely but could give me any other information other than a printed timetable, politely explaining that he was new here as he was only covering for the usual staff as they were at a function that evening. He further advised us that he had got lost twice on the roundabout on his way into work that day. The meal we had was very good and the service given was excellent, and the person that waited on us was the same person who could not find the crisps on the till earlier that day. On the morning of our departure the staff were very well informed and polite and advised us fully on the park and ride scheme. All in all an interesting stay, well mannered but some things left to be desired, particularly the toilet door !!!

Room Tip: Don't stay in room 322 untill the toliet door has been repaired !!!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn which is just outside Oxford near one of the park and ride.Parking is free and the hotel is quite impressive with a nice reception and bar lounge area.It has a spa and pool although we did not use it.

We had an executive room which is in the top floor and was a very quiet floor .The room was clean and was quite big with wooden shutters over the window and big 37 inch TV . Bed was fine and king size.Bathroom was small but fine and had a bath, shower and hand held shower which was good for hair washing. Lots of towels but they were a little worn as was the dressing gown. Only downside was although it said air-conditioning in the room and on website,it is climate control and only blew out hot air .We had to open the window to get it cool even in Oct,it must be unbearable in summer! In the bar and restaurant it is air con and works well.

Staff in the hotel were all very friendly and efficient from reception ,bar and restaurant staff to housekeeping, always saying hello when passing. The food was excellent with a extensive room service menu, bar menu and restaurant menu.It was well cooked and very tasty. Breakfast included in our deal was a well laid out buffet with good hot food and all the usual cereals etc. It even had a pancakes! . The restaurant was very busy on Saturday night and the staff had to work very hard ( they could do with more staff on) but they were always pleasant and the manager was apologetic for the delay.

The Wifi was very quick and a strong signal in the hotel but I still think when you are paying over £100 for a weekend night it should be free,we paid £30 for the 3 nights we were there.

Overall a great stay and we will use it again if we come to Oxford.

Room Tip: Chose executive room as bigger and on quiet floor.Rooms facing the motorway are a little noisy if yo...

the staff and it is consistent. The staff make all the difference because they care about what they are doing. Rooms are comfortable, food is good for a chain hotel. Can be pricey and popular so you need to plan ahead.

We stayed for 2 nights as we visited Oxford for the weekend and I chose this hotel as you can park for free (unlike the travelogue next door), and the park and ride bus is 5 minutes walk away (£4.50 return for 2 adults and it runs to 11.30pm!)
The hotel has a nice reception and warm welcome, we had an executive room (same size as the others, but you did get a kitkat chunky instead of biscuits!!!) which all nice, and you may get a choice of soft or hard pillow but the bed was quite soft. Shower was also quite old and versus other hotels not very powerful.
However the room did have good blackout blinds and even thought we faced the road we didn't hear it all night
We didn't bother with breakfast as Oxford has so many better options
Overall nice location to travel in and out of Oxford, comfortable and with a pleasant welcome
