“Ok, not much choice in the area!”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Was at a customer site nearby and there isnt too much choice in the area. The hotel is fine, clean and no real issues, but it is a little dated and tired in places. I noted that there were signs saying that refurb is in progress, so will improve I am sure.

Stayed one night. Room was very comfortable clean and well equipped. breakfast was excellent and the public areas were pleasant. The hotel offers ample parking and navigation around what is a large hotel is straightforward. Ideally located a short walk or bus ride out of Oxford city centre.

This is my second time staying here. This time I requested a room in the Eastwyke House. Much nicer rooms. Larger more comfortable. Took a bit to figure out the heating though. The bar area is very nice and the staff helpful. Front desk personnel could be friendlier and a bit less snobbish, but all in all a nice hotel outside the city center. The buffet breakfast was very poor quality for what they charge. Getting a pot of coffee took quite an effort.

Hotel location cannot be faulted and the rooms were large with a good bathroom. Busy breakfast as expected but the food was of a high standard. Good size swimming pool, no problem with the changing rooms, functional. Not a character hotel.

My partner and I have just returned from a fabulous 2 night stay at the Oxford Spires hotel. We would both thoroughly recommend this to anyone visiting the City.

We arrived late on Tuesday evening and we were greeted by a very happy and friendly member of staff. He informed us that our room was actually in the Eastwyke Building, the small cottage type building just set back from the hotel, which turned out to be a brilliant surprise.

Our room was large and the furniture beautiful. It was truly like a home-from-home with a great "cosy" feel. If you are staying, I would definitely recommend you ask for the Eastwyke Building.

The breakfast was substantial and we thoroughly enjoyed it on both days. I would ignore any comments about bad scrambled eggs - there was a large spread of food from cereals to cooked breakfast, so the choice is endless.

On our second night, we loved the room so much we actually chose to stay in and order room service. After a gorgeous day in the spa and exploring the City, we got room service food and a bottle of wine. The prices were reasonable and my partner and I had a fantastic evening in, enjoying the room and the hotel services.

I have been on many trips in my life and I must say that this hotel gave me a great home-from-home feeling and for the first time ever, I stayed in and enjoyed the hotel rather than venue out into the City! I think this says a lot for our stay and I hope others enjoy their stay as much as we did!

Room Tip: Ask for the Eastwyke Building. I fear rooms in the main building could be quite "corporate&quo...

This hotel is located about 20 minutes (walking) from Oxford city centre. It is surrounded by green fields and parks and, if you cross the road in front of the hotel and walk down the first street beside the park, you reach a lovely meandering stream that runs along the length of the park. A very nice place for a stroll. The hotel is clean and staff pleasant, with a selection of typical British plates. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, I had horses in the field almost every morning... lovely sc...

You kinda know you are in a mediocre place when the sad spectacle of that processed scrambled egg concoction greets you at breakfast.

Actually it's more confirmation of what you will have experienced after checking in at this dismal place which looks attractive on the outside but feels like an old-style motorway cafe on the inside.

The rooms are plain. Adequate, yes. But my mattress allowed me to feel the full benefit of the coiled springs within it.

On the first floor (rooms 125-137) yoiu can get a room overlooking some pleasant fields but it's scarcely compensation for the drabness of the place.

If you or your firm can afford it, go to the Malmaison or the Randolph.

Room Tip: Ask fpr a room overlooking the fields at the back.
